Her visit for the OU game was mentioned in one of the OU game threads, but she should probably have her own thread.

http://amestrib.com/sports/women-s-basketball-notebook-third-ranked-international-recruit-visits-isu

Short version of her story: She's a PG from the Netherlands who originally verballed Gonzaga for the 2014 class. She tore her ACL and Gonzaga switched coaches, so she ended up losing that spot and deciding to wait an extra year, making her a 2015 recruit. She is a top-5 quality PG who would probably see immediate playing time with Moody graduating.

Here's a Google Translate version of a Dutch article that just came out:

https://translate.google.com/transl...-van-basketbalster-laura-cornelius&edit-text=

The important takeaway: she said she'll choose in the next two weeks, and it's most likely between us and Miami.

I tried to read the DSM Register article but after the 17th pop-up I gave up.

Both articles say pretty much the same thing.

This. We are on the short list and hope she picks ISU. Nothing in the article to be pessimistic or crazy optimistic about either way.

At least she saw a good Cyclone game. How was the crowd? Box score says almost 10k but I mean how many people were actually in the seats and was it a "good" crowd?

Well, thanks for the consideration, anyway... <sigh>

I know that's a bad attitude for me to have, but in the mind of a player looking to choose a university, Ames vs. Miami isn't usually going to be much of a contest.

Probably 9K more than she saw at Miami.

Miami's head coach coached the US U19 team in 2013, and they played The Netherlands in the world championship tournament. That might be part of the connection there.

When you do a google search for references to her visit to Miami, you find:
The Tribune, Register, and Dutch articles
This thread
Prospectsnation.com
A Gonzaga message board

Nothing directly related to Miami. No articles. No message boards.

It wasn't a top tier crowd, lots of families gone because of the late start time. But the single game ticket areas were decently full. The crowd was its usual loud self when it was close, and stayed for OT for the most part. I would hope we at least counter the Florida weather advantage...

Her and Jadda would give us the one-two dribble punch we need to be above 500 in the tough B12.

People shouldn't forget the recruit from Canada coming in. We are going to be loaded with guards in the next few years.

Did she also consider us before? I thought there was another European player who considered us and ended up going to the West Coast?

Julie Vanloo committed to us in 2012, had NCAA problems then decided to go pro in Europe. There may be others.

You might be thinking of Emily Potter, the Canadian post who chose Utah over us. She had a good year last year for a crappy Utah squad (RPI 183) and is sitting out this year's even crappier Utah season (RPI 241) with a torn ACL

Not that I'm bitter.

ACLs have been a major story line this year. Moody's draft chances look much better because of them too.

It would have been great to have Potter at ISU, and she would have thrived here as well!

In the article, she says she wants to be the best player in the world (or something that translated to that). She doesn't say she wants to play beach basketball. So maybe we have a chance. Playing in front of a huge fan base should be a draw if you want to be the best.

Plus, go look at the Miami WBB roster and game results. I can't tell who their PG is.
http://www.hurricanesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=28700&SPID=103778&SPSID=658438

If you want to go to a program that develops points guards, strategizes around PGs, gets PGs drafted into the WNBA, then ISU is the clear choice.

Plus having one of the best players from Canada joining our team, I'd think that would help with her goals also.
