We have been hearing for months (if not years) that Jamie has just about secured a huge donation from a certain wealthy Ankeny resident. We heard about the two of them meeting, we heard about the two of them in a suite at the Jack, we heard about the two of them playing golf, it went on and on, but no donation.

Unconfirmed word on the street is:

1. The donation was delayed more or less indefinitely because the donor was not happy with some things about the way the athletic program was being run. Specifically he was not happy with much of anything about Chizik (promotion efforts, accesibility, meeting fans, on-field performance).

2. The donor has kids who were school friends of Paul Rhoads, has known him & his family for years, and is happy with, and may have influenced, his hiring.

3. The donation number I have heard is $25 million. This will not all be for athletics, some will be designated for academic departments.

Not sure if it impacts the situation but the "Ankeny Resident" we are discussing has been looking at selling his business. If that were to happen I would assume he would be looking for some substantial tax write-offs. I do not know all of the tax implications since I have never sold a multi-million dollar business. Another consideration is that the global price of generic glyphosate has declined over the last 6 months further complicating the sale of said business.

I will help him spend whatever he wants/ needs to spend.

Man I really hope this happens. Another blessing in disguise I guess for the Chizik situation....if it actually happens.
