Lanning

I would bet good money there are identical threads to this regarding SR and GR, probably about this same time in the season during past 2 years.

He's the next guy in line, so obviously he's better than anything we've got now.

EDIT: After reading this, I realized it didn't sound as sarcastic as I'd hoped. So for clarity, yeah, I'm making fun of people who truly believe we have the next superstar sitting on the bench, he just "wasn't ready this year."
Will Creekmur be the holder for FG/PATs as an additional threat since Coleman is a senior?

I'm just trying to read the tea leaves here, but I get the impression that Lanning will have the inside track next spring. CPR's statement following the OU game that there would be a four man QB competition seemed to me like an indictment of Rohach and Richardson and a way to position them as the scapegoat for the offensive woes this year.

Why are many people still here ripping on the football team? Did you miss the basketball game yesterday? There is no way that 6 of the top 7 threads should be retread threads ripping on the football players.
The football season is over so it's ok to talk about off season stuff.

Maybe my definition of "ripping on the football players" is different from yours. Where in this thread is this happening?

I'm not stating he is going to be the next savior or immediate starter, just saying he deserves to be thrown in the conversation to be the starter next season outside of Richardson and Rohach.

Regardless, the best one will see the field. It is the most important position in the game. If he touches the ball every play, he better be pretty damn good.

I heard Sam and Grant looked damn good in practice too. And I still think Sam is a good QB - playing in an unorganized system with minimal talent at WR and very inconsistent pass blocking.

Doesn't matter what we've got at QB - the trenches must improve and the WR group needs to be stronger.

Is it just me, or does this quarterback cycle wheel-around getting old. Let’s just wait till spring to talk about it. Talking about these freshman, high school senior, next in line quarterbacks is getting old bra.

SR will do just fine next year with a healthy line and an OC that knows how to scheme against nine in the box. The other qbs will get time to develop and be ready when their time comes. Sheesh!

At this point it is way to obvious that the problem is NOT the QB's. It is very difficult to make ESPN highlights when under a bus, unless of course you are saving someone who just got runover.

They ran him so far in to the ground that he's still working on digging back up to field level. But they keep running a bus right over him down there.

Well if he would make plays to get on Sportscenter the offense would be fine!

Its a combination if coaching and not getting crap for recruits at the quarterback position. Lets be honest here, none of three would start at aby other big 12 schools including Kansas. I realize we are not making any monster lands anytime soon but theres guys like Jake Wauters at Kstate all over the country. We just somehow manage to continually get guys that amount to nothing. Personally with Lazard coming in I am hopeful we'll get some no name recruit that comes in a straight gunslinger.
