Is there a better player on this football team right now?

He has pinned the ball inside the 20 yard line 14 times in 3 games. He is averaging in 40.5 yards per punt. His long was a 59 yard monster of a kick in the WIU game today. Love having KVDK as the punter. Definitely on track for All-Big 12 and maybe All-American.

Also props to the punt team for great coverage so far.

That was a fair caught 59 yarder too! Not a bouncing 59 yarders which makes it all the more impressive!

I don't think the WIU crossed the 50 yard line without getting a turnover except for the drive where they got a field goal. Impressive by the defense, but even more impressive by KVDK to lock em up. KVDK is definitely my favorite to win the Guy at this point.

I agree KVDK is a great punter, but the voters aren't watching our games right now, and he doesn't have a great average because of all the directional/inside 20 punts. Plus, I doubt he's even a top 5 punter. I just don't watch other punters, and I'm sure there are some other good ones out there.

0 returns against Kirby this year, according to John Walters last night. That 59-yarder was an outstanding punt and the one that was downed at the 1-yard line was excellent punting by Kirby and coverage by Coleman.

Dude, his punting over the last three games is some of the best punting I'ver EVER seen--NFL included.

Yeah, if he keeps this up he'll be in the NFL after graduation. Not drafted, because nobody drafts punters, but he'll be kicking on Sundays.

KVDK has been pretty consistent since his freshman year, but he seems to really be putting it all together these first three games. It's weird. I feel like I'm trapped some bizzare Twilight Zone episode with KVDK and EA Sports kicking lights out so far. We have a kicking game that doesn't give me indigestion? What?

He has 0 return yards against him this year and a solid 40 yard average. This is a combination of great punting and great coverage as they are all directional or fair catches. Love it.

I heard that also. Amazing thru three games and no returns.

You think Ray Guy award voters are watching the games, scouring for the best punters in the land?

They'll look at average yards, net average yards, number of times downed inside the 20/10, etc. They don't have to watch one snap.

I don't think this matters, especially if 74% (14-19) of his kicks have pinned the opposition to their own red zone. It's such an advantage to pair that with an above-average defense. I agree with you somewhat that voters will look at the average, but I think they also look at how effective his punts were, regardless of where on the field they happen.
