Misleading. Back then you'd get in trouble for having the school evacuated for pulling the fire alarm. Today kids are shooting up schools.

So statistics are misleading but your opinion is the truth?

The person who attacks is lucky the victim isn't pulling a weapon out. A lot of people have permits to carry now a days.

***edit, and I'm not condoning or advocating using the weapon, just that the situation could escalate if someone is attacked. Knockout isn't a game.

I would find it real hard to feel sorry for that person if the next time they tried to do this, they got shot. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Also I don't remember anything like this going on at any point when I was in school. We knocked peoples books out of their arms/hands and screwed with peoples vehicles but it harmless and happened within our group of friends.

Yep. Gang initiations were the "scary" thing to look out for when I was growing up. Or how about the roving bands of thugs who roamed the Mall of America, when it first opened, and slashed people's Achilles tendons when they walked down the stairs?

Don't forget about the one where the gangs drive around at night with their headlights turned off and when you flash your lights at them they follow you and kill you.

I'll just say there's a lot more stupidity by kids now. I mean you have this, the milk thing, and other sorts of "games" which are just dumb. I don't question the crime part but some of this is just dumb **** done with a lack of respect to people in general.

...by slashing your achilles tendons. It's always about the tendons.

I'd consider myself a generation (ok, maybe just half a generation) removed from these kids and I'm pretty damn embarrassed by some of the **** I did. Not so much in college, but in high school. I had a friend who lived out in the country and one night we thought it would be hilarious if we all pretended we were beating up our buddy on the side of the road and then see how many times a driver coming past would circle back to see what was going on. So stupid, dangerous, and pretty cruel to the random driver, but I don't think it was some sort of indictment of "kids those days".

well said.

Every generation thinks the ones that come after it are no good, out of control, punks, hell bent on bringing down society. It's called getting older. And yes, while there's going to be some bad stuff that happens, it doesn't mean that this generation is any worse than the one that came before it. the world keeps on spinning.

That's about how I would classify myself. I'm not saying we didn't do stupid and maybe even more stupid stuff. We weren't punching stranger though and we didn't do stuff to people who weren't pretty close friends. TPing on homecoming? Dumb, but we did friends houses and the school, which was tradition. I suppose this stuff has been happening for awhile and I just either didn't realize it or ignored it but some of this is stupid and it seems like younger people (even people my age) just don't really care about other peoples time, money, etc. End my old man rant and get the **** off my lawn whipper snapper.

Honestly didn't care enough to click your link, so not sure what stats you're referring to.
Ahh I see. Well, you can continue to believe your own lies and look like an idiot, like you do now. Carry on.

Honest question and specifically talking about young kids (12 or younger). Do you think they behave differently now than when you were a kid.

Of course I do. But, that opinion is made by looking back on my 12 year old self with 37 year old eyes. I can't put myself in the same frame of reference, because I'm simply not that person anymore. It's the reason why parents can still get mad at their kids for underage drinking, knowing full well that they did the same thing when they were younger. It's not right or wrong. It just is.
