It's amazing how much different the kids are today compared to just 15-20 years ago. This is just one of many examples.

I like how they recommended utilizing the help van. I remember changing a tire in the S lots in a blizzard. The "help" van drove by twice despite me flagging him down. I double Melvin Ejimed him the third time

The person who attacks is lucky the victim isn't pulling a weapon out. A lot of people have permits to carry now a days.

***edit, and I'm not condoning or advocating using the weapon, just that the situation could escalate if someone is attacked. Knockout isn't a game.

Some of the youth nowadays are just scary. This game makes me think of those kids in Oklahoma that were shooting people because they were bored.

Nothing has changed. Back in my day we just called it stomping the **** out of someone. I'm sure if the internet had been bigger and the media had as much influence as they do now they would have came up with a "cool, buzzworthy, catchphrasey" name for it.

It's much more "shocking" when it's labelled as a "game" by the media. Of course that just leads to teh perpetuation of the activities and gives the story more cycles, which the media loves.

People get their *** kicked every day for no reason. There are psychos everywhere. And it will continue forever.

Juvenile Arrest Rates

According to the Dept of Justice, most "juvenile" crimes are trending down in the last 15-20 years.

Right when I got out of college and started working in Des Moines I had someone try to jump me on my way in to work one morning. This was in early 1993 in winter. I was walking along the sidewalk and heard someone running up behind me, I turned and looked just early enough and saw a fist coming towards me. I kind of ducked back and grabbed his arm and spun him around just sort of reacting to the attack. This put him face first into a marble building. He popped up and ran off and I saw some of his buddies laughing at him as they ran away. Left a nice blood smear on the marble, probably from his nose.

When I called the police they told me there had been a new wave of gang initiations where the goal was to find someone big and imposing and try to knock them out. I just got lucky and he got the worst of it.

Yep. Gang initiations were the "scary" thing to look out for when I was growing up. Or how about the roving bands of thugs who roamed the Mall of America, when it first opened, and slashed people's Achilles tendons when they walked down the stairs?
