Thx for doing this interview! Have met Dan at multiple road tailgates over the years and always enjoy talking to him about ISU athletics and his road trips.

That streak is hard to comprehend. I thought it was just every home game at first (which still would be impressive), but every game, home and road (except the one he voluntarily missed)...Incredible.

This might be my favorite Kickin It podcast to date. Dad took me to my first ISU FB game as a 5 year old in '98, so hearing some of the old history was extremely enjoyable for me. Been through some tough years, but also some really good ones. Makes last years 11 win season even more special IMO

History predates the present. Just trying to be helpful.

Seriously, I enjoyed it and what a superfan like Dan has to say.

And it sounds like he's never even lived in Ames, or central Iowa. So he's traveling quite a bit just to make it to home games.

Dan mentioned Hornacek hitting a buzzer-beater in the opening round against Miami (Ohio). I think that Miami team had Ron Harper.

Testifying
Have met Dan at a lot of events. Truly genuine guy.
He stopped by our tailgate at the infamous Ohio game a couple years ago. All of us saw the "hot seat" guy before the game and knew something was going to happen.

Just a reminder to everyone, JP and said "hot seat guy"...

That Miami OH team did have Harper.

The Miami OH and Michigan wins at Minneapolis in 1986 were so huge. The FB, MBB and WBB teams accomplished nothing of note from 1979 through 1985 with the exception of the MBB team making the NCAAs in 1985 for the first time under Johnny Orr and losing in the first round. The 1986 Sweet 16 run ended that 6 year drought. I was at those games in Minny and it remains at or near the top of my most favorite ISU fan experiences as it does for Dan.

I have not lived in Iowa since 1977: Initially in Fort Dodge followed by Lincoln NE (16 years and 469 miles round trip to Ames), Kansas City (9 years and 486 miles RT), and now St. Louis (22 years and 746 miles RT).
