This does suck but this photo always struck me as odd. It looks like her head was a bad photoshop attempt to just stick it on the shoulders (the slight lean forward and 90 degree turn to look back makes it look weird).

Yeah. Started 16 games. Probably deserved to be starting a little earlier.
Agreed.
It took until the 12th conference game for her to be awarded the starting spot for good. It was not coincidence that when the starting lineup finally got settled on with her in it is when things started to click for the team.
Kelsey started in 13 of the 20 conference games, and we went 10-3 rolling with her.

It was painfully obvious she was outplaying Tanke and Hansford, but they often got more minutes than Kelsey did. In the last 25 games, which is when Hare was shut down, there were 15 times that those 2 played within 1 minute of Kelsey's minutes or received more minutes outright.
I wonder if she was dealing with an injury or something during the early conference season. If not, then her minutes allocation does not make much sense to me.

This sucks. I don't want to break the news to my wife because she was our favorite player to root for.

Enjoyed watching Kelsey play and the hustle she brought to the game. As this is the 2nd Joens' sister that has transferred out of the program, makes one question if we have any chance on landing the youngest sister when her time to enter college arrives.
Videos of her that I have seen look like she is really good too!

To anyone dumbing my post, I was wrong thinking she is the youngest Joens. But if we can get her cancer of a dad away from the program that's a win.

Will definitely miss her, but Williams coming in and Hare returning were going to push her down the pecking order. Am sure she wants playing time...but as her sister found out...the grass isn't always greener. Wish her the best wherever she lands. She's the type of young lady that will have a positive impact on any team.
Joens was the starting 3 if the season started tomorrow and Hare was healthy. Bill had better have a bead on a capable 3&D wing from the portal to replace her because Harris and Tanke don’t have the D part down. And preferably that portal wing is 6 feet or taller.

NIL isn't likely to factor in for a player of her caliber. She looks like she finds a lot of joy*** in playing and I am not sure this is the place for that. Hope she lands in a good spot for herself, seems like a great young gal.

Wonder if she wants to play big league or would be interested in a Drake or Summit League school. If she wanted to step down quite a bit St. Thomas would be a great choice academically (really good school). Probably any number of Big 12 school options, league is struggling with rosters for next year.

*** Some of that is based on her running around after the game at University of St. Thomas chasing after Drew. They were both just having silly fun and it was a joy to see that.

Joens starting is a pretty big assumption. With no roster changes, IMO Hare & Jackson would be our 2/3 combination to start the season.

Then we have Harris, Tanke, Beaty and Jensen also fighting for for 2/3 spot minutes.

I think she was realistic about her potential for 20-30 mpg with the logjam of guards/wings on the roster.

Not that I like it, but don’t you think this is what happens at every school as they end the year & do evaluations. Do you think TJ told all of the guys at the end of the bench to stay & they chose to leave? I hat the way it works & hate that Kelsey is leaving but maybe there is someone else waiting. Who knows? AgaIn, I hate the way this business works so I hope HCBF has someone waiting to commit. BF is feeling the pressure to win with Audi & Addy & his looming retirement & wants to maximize their ability to win & try to go out on the highest stage possible. Anyone agree?

Jackson or Hare starting at the 3 is by far the more faulty assumption. If that would somehow happen, the team’s defensive woes would continue with no shot a conference title even with Williams added.

How is the Jackson/Hare combo a bigger liability?

It's not like Joens is significantly taller than either. Jackson is a better defender.

I will miss Kelsey. Always seemed like she had higher expectations set for her than some others, and it was a breath of fresh air when 3-4 of our girls looked like they were stuck in quick sand and her ass would run across the whole court to get a loose ball.

Hope she’s able to find success and happiness and knows that she’s always a Cyclone.

Evidently the Iowa State Way that Bill always talks about no longer applies.
