I have learned from the past that the U.S. Senators and Representatives have a lot to do with what state lands a contract. So, maybe the Kansas reps are pushing harder than the Iowa reps.

As for already having a site, that doesn't matter. This is the US government we are talking about, they will build whatever and whereever they want for millions of dollars, just to leave it sit vacant years later!

the politicians part makes sense, but your point about building and possibly abandoning makes sense too. Kansas has vast wasteland, so if the facility is abandoned there, it won't be an eyesore.

That is, using the logic, if you don't see an eyesore (because how many people drive by Manhattan, KS?), then is it really an eyesore?

I saw late today on MSNBC that the biodefense lab has already applied for a bailout. Administrators are flying to DC to meet with Chuck Schumer tomorrow.
They are also planning a Biodefense lab visitors center with tributes to Arlo Guthrie and John Lennon.

The independent American is becoming extinct. Metro man is becoming the prevailing species, and this animal is dependent upon sometype of government job and votes accordingly.

Get down with the sickness.
