I was just wondering who is going to have a better season? I think Ross will because he's more consistant. I'm hoping he can give us 13 pts and 10 rebounds. I think Jiri can get 10 pts and 6 rebounds. I also think Ross plays better defense.

I think if Jiri bulks up at all he'll be the better option. He's athletic with nice range and can get up and down the court.

Then again, if Ross can become a banger down low, it's something we sorely need.

The real question is do you think Brian should be starting in centerfield?

Haha...I think they should play Pods in center and rotate Ozuna and Rob Mackoweworiwerio in left. I think Brian needs one more year in the minors.

The real question is why the hell they have FSN midwest instead of Comcast on channel 40?

Ross doesn't have near the offensive skill set Jiri does. There's no way he will score more than 10 ppg. I expect something like 8 and 6 from Ross, and 13 and 7 from Jiri. I would be very happy with those numbers from them.

I thought that when Ross did shoot the ball last year he showed pretty good touch on his mid-range jumpers. I just don't feel that he looked to score very much last year. I'd like to see him be more agressive offensively and take more 10-15 foot jumpers.

Life long Chisox fan here.....

Pods in left, Mackowiack in Center, Dye in Right.......I love Ozuna but he should never be in the outfield. Anderson does look completley lost offensively and would benefit from being sent down. He kinda looks like Crede did a couple of years ago and he has turned pretty well at the plate. At least so far this year.

Ross' hand injury really hurt his production later in the year. Before that he really was showing a nice touch. He may have to step back a little rather than taking it to the hoop, but it's two points either way.

Jiri will likely put up better numbers this year. I'd expect us to have a fairly balanced offense with rahshon avg. around 15-17 if its going to be his team. but i'd expect the rest of our team to be fairly balanced. i could see jiri with about 9 and 6, ross with maybe 7 and 6. but it all depends on how much they put on and how well they listen to Mac. If they bust their asses this summer then they could do way better than that. I just see us having a more balanced attack next year.

Ross is a great player and can get up and down the floor with the best of them, however, I think Jiri is the better pick. He has the all around European style. He can slash to the basket for easy dunks and lay-ups, something he could do a bit more of, and he can totally throw the defense off and burn you from the perimeter. They both have their bright areas, but I would give the slight edge to Jiri.

I think they can both put up double figures in scoring, and hopefully at least 15-20 rebounds between the 2 of them. If they don't, I don't think we can be successful. We'll need 24-40 points out of them. That may sound like a lot after last year, but they're going to have to step up. Every good team needs to have a decent inside game.

I think 13 points and 10 rebounds is a lot to ask...how about we start with 8 and 7.

If they both put up about 8-10 pts a game and at least grabbed 7-10 rebs a game i'll be happy. hopefully one of them can spring out as a big class cleaner this year. we need someone to learn how to rebound...and i think Mac is just the man to do it

Just looked up the stats from last year
Jiri - shot 52% (104-202) from the field. Avg. 8.6pts 3.9rbs per game. Played 30 games and avg. 20 min.
Ross - shot 53% (33-62) from the field. Avg. 2.7pts 2.7rbs per game. Played 27 games and avg. 22 min.

How does Jiri put up 140 more shots per game and only avg 6 more points. I'm thinking if Ross got 140 more mid range jumpers and layups and made let's say 60 then he would have about 120 more points which would 193 total points and then his avg would be 7.1pts. Okay i just failed to try and make my point.

FORGET STATS and hope those two can play at the same time and just avg. 8 and 8 each! Hopefully with curt and will gone players like jiri and ross's avg should go up.

6.8 rebounds per game combined is kinda sad...

[/b][/quote] I will take anyone with any name who can have 13pts and 10 rbs. I don't think any one person on our roster can do that next year. I'll take Ross at 7 and 5, then Jiri at 8 and 5. We will be ok with that at the 5 position.

That name will be Jessan Gray. You heard it here first.

Jiri is alot better offensive player. Ross is and only will be a solid role player who I feel should come off the bench to give guys a breather. He does not make many mistakes but, he does not make us better when he is out there. I also feel that Jessan Gray should play a lot more!

I'd hope for something like 15 and 7 from Jiri as a senior, and maybe 7 and 7 from Ross as a sophomore. Jiri has greater ability to get his shot off at this point. Ross can improve though, he's got a good shooting touch when he uses it. I can remember Homan improving on offense a great deal over the course of his career. Both need to get a lot tougher. McDermott should help those two develop, and we'll likely be counting on them a lot more both offensively and on the boards given the new backcourt. I agree that Gray is a really good X factor in our front line. Hard to tell for sure who'll deliver the most out of those 3 next season, but Jiri seems to be the best guess to me.

I think we need to be realistic about scoring and rebounding. Here are Homan's numbers over his last 3 years:

so. 7.5 pts 6.4 rebs

jr. 11.1 pts 6.3 rebs

sr. 13.6 pts 8.6 rebs

He never averaged 13 and 10. In fact, Vroman never averaged 10 rebounds a game. I would think combined if they could give us 20-25 points per game and 12-15 rebounds we will be okay.

I defintely think that ross has the better shot - very pretty from 10 or 12 feet. I think Juri has the potential to be a rough and tough rebounder inside - much better than ross can be. And that's not to say that juri's the better defender - i think ross is. Juri just needs to keep from goin over the back and racking up fouls - which i am sure that mcd will take care of quite quickly and efficiently.

btw- grew up in a cws family (funny how this forum is now dual-purpose). I think that rob is a very capable center fielder, but not NEARLY as star-studded as brian. rob, of course, can hit the ball though. Brian had been batting very well last year in charlotte - over .300. That's why we were so confident about letting rowand go. (sad to see him go, but glad to have jim). There's a good article on whitesox.com right now about rob talkin to brian about rob's trip to the minors in '03 being the best thing for him. Perhaps a stint at AAA could start brian back up, and he could be back in the bigs for august?? ..if there are a few other devoted cws fans that are on here consitently - we could start some posts under General Discussion or something...
