Why was discombobulated banned? I thought no one was supposed to get banned from this site. He sent me an e-mail and said he hasn't received any reason for his banning. Discombobulated is one of the few people on this board that presents an alternate viewpoint to the prevailing attitude that everything is super in ISU basketballland.

I guess that explains why we haven't heard anything from him..Maybe because he was bashing anyone who had anything resembling a positive opinion? It was the way he presented his alternate opinion IMO. I know you are pessimistic about the whole men's BB situation, but you contradict us with a lot more respect and leave the bashing out of the conversation. I know there was some bashing towards him, but for the majority, it was as a result of him belittling(sp) them. That is just my opinion.

The thing that sucks is that I will probably now be the most hated person on the board. I was at +15/-7 yesterday and now am at +16/-18 and slipping fast. :)

I don't really understand the karma thing. If one person does not like your opinion, he can give you 24 -'s in one day if he gets up every hour at night because you can vote once an hour. If you give a karma, it should have your member name and reason for your vote, otherwise, I don't know if it tells you that much. Look at me, I am optimistic and my -'s outnumber my +'s. But that is a whole other topic.

I don't mind the melcor's of this site because it is fun to go back and forth giving reasons for the opinions we have and as long as there is respect given and nobody feels attacked personally. After all, we are all CYCLONE FANS and being a CYCLONE on a bad day is MUCH better than being a EIU Chicken Squawk on the best of days.

Good idea, it's actually one I'm working on. If you check back later today, it will make you give a reason for the rating:)

The reason he was banned is because of the way he personally attacked several people either in the forum, via PM, or via email. I am not going to get into the specifics but I agree with you that I don't want to ban anybody at all. He is our solo banned person. I started the site with the goal of having diverse opinions, it's just how you present those that makes you are good poster or not. I am not judging him or his opinions, I just had about 50 people send me complaints in the past two days and had to do something about it. I would welcome him emailing me and we could work something out. Nothing is ever permanent.

Thank god he is gone. He pretty much stopped anyone from having any legitimate discussions of basketball on this board. Every thread, no matter how it started, would break down into him trashing the new coaching staff (mostly with pure conjecture and innacurrate info) and everyone else arguing back with him.

Now we can move on and actually have real basketball discussions.

Thanks, Jeremy. I certainly don't mind having someone who posts differing opinions, but when someone comes on the forum to simply highjack threads and make personal attacks on others that disagree with his opinions, then he needs to go. I admit I was one of the 50 that complained yesterday. Once he stooped to name-calling without adding anything to the conversation and inerrupting every thread with his hateful rants, it was time for him to leave the forum.

I was not given any examples to research. Like I said, it was nothing personal and I would welcome him back if he stayed within the guidelines that most people expect. If I had received any complaints from him, I would have looked into them the same way.

I never saw discombobulated start the name-calling. He might have fired back at people, but I never same his start calling people names out of the blue. Could you please provide an example of when he initiated a case of name-calling?

I don't think it matters who started it, the guy's got some issues with negativity that need to be tamed before he can actually present a legitimate argument.

Negativity does not preclude a good argument. Your statement makes no sense.

I am glad he is gone... It's almost like the guy hates the Cyclones... I admit the first day GMAC was introduced I was a little bummed out... THe next day I decided to get behind GMAC and get pumped up again.. There is no reason to doubt the guy... His constant bickering about him made me sick and not even like reading any post where his drivel was...

I just don't get that statement, "There is no reason to doubt the guy...". There are several very good (my opinion) reasons to doubt him. You might choose to overlook them or rationalize them, or look at things a different way, but there are reasons to doubt him, which I will continue to do until I see some evidence that he was a good choice for ISU.

I think melkor, your being better at trying to analyze the situationthan than some have been. Like I said, I have no problem with people that are skeptical, we all are to some degree. I just want to make sure you understand that I value your input as a fan and hope that with that skepticism, you respect that other people feel really good about GMAC and are right to have that their own opinion. Right now, all we have are opinions of the job that will be done.

How do you use the karma thing? I can see the plus and minus votes for each poster, but I can't figure out how to give those marks to anyone.

AAC,

Click on the applaud or boo
[/b][/quote]

OK, I feel a "duh" coming on. DUH! There I feel better. But I swear to god, there was no applaud or boo underneath the karma thing when I was hunting for a way to respond. Then after I asked how to do it, it popped in there. What the heck, one more time. DUH!

Where is it, Alan, or anyone?

I don't see it.

This is my first post. Do you have to post at least once to see it?

Or maybe there is some kind of bug?
