I thought Lard was fine. But we were MUCH better with Jacobson in there.
Absolutely true.
Lard is getting better game by game.
But, Jacobson is 10x more fundamentally sound. Not even close.
At risk of being a broken record, Lard is not a very good on ball defender, or post defender. A semi efficient post player will foul him out quickly. He is a good help defender shot blocker. His blocked shots are cool, energizing and can impact a drivers mentality. I assume, and hope, he continues to make weekly progress. We need him to be playing well to Max our potential.

Just think if his shots would have fallen! Defense was great tonight!
Agree. He was trying to score over Lawson though...not the easiest player to do that to. I like it that we have three posts that we can interchange...fresh legs in the 2nd half are invaluable.

Coming into this game everyone was talking about MJ being a defensive liability but I thought he played much better defense on Lawson than Lard did. I love all our big guys and they all will have their moments this year I think but MJ should have silenced a few doubters with that effort yesterday.

Love the way he plays. Love that he has a jump hook. It seemed he was trying to put too much touch on it so it was coming up short but it's a shot that is difficult to block. Too many guys just want to roll to the basket and force up a shot but end up getting it blocked.

I haven’t seen Mike use the glass a whole lot, you’re right, he’s a hook guy.

We have the obnoxious relentless OU player that has always seemed to torment us. He's the one guy on our team I want taking mid range twos frequently as well.

I'll take those over midrange THT fadeaways. Love THT but also kinda hate that particular shot. Unless a player is MJ himself fadeaways blow.

He missed a couple of those jump hooks and I'm all "He never misses those!" at the bar last night. Had gotten used to seeing them fall. I have a lot of feel good when he has that shot.

So is Solomon just not in the rotation or still working himself back to full health?

Maybe? I don't think there is a "rotation" per say. Mad Fran has a rotation, we are going situational. In baseball Fran would bring in his 7th inning guy even if his starting pitcher was throwing a no-hitter and only thrown 70 pitches. And, yes, I also think both Wigginton and Young are working back to game shape. Both had "no running" injuries. Wigginton might have been able to bike some or something but it's not the same.

He's been a huge contributor from day 1. we needed somebody with a 10-12 ft knock down shot. Also, his baby-hook has been huge for his high FG% shot - keep working on it, had a few short-arm bunnies he missed vs KU.

In terms of playing D positionally and rotating to help, he's similar to Solomon but with more offensive tools. Lard makes some absolutely spectacular blocks in help D but he often gives up position on the block.

Jacobson - can we all spell that right? - has been a HUGE part of this team so far and I feel more comfortable with him on the court than the other bigs, at this point.

Do you really want to take many touches away from NWB, Shayok, Horton-Tucker, Haliburton, or Wigginton when one (or more) of them is hot on a given night, right?

I would have liked a few of Mike's hooks to fall, but that was okay. He did his job.
I’ll take Jacobson taking shots anytime.

We have too many weapons to not seek out the hot hand every night. We had Solomon on the bench if it had turned into a brawl type of game.

Without his toughness, we would be in bad shape

He must have been talking some **** or something. They really started coming after him around the time he got tossed to the deck going for the offensive board.
