Jacob Park Update/Controversy

My mental health would of suffered that game had I not been pantshitting drunk.
As I recall for myself personally, I wasn't blown away by what transpired that game. Years of enduring Paul Rhoads anemic offenses prepared me for that debacle pretty well. Disappointing, but probably not even Top 10 let downs of my Cyclone fandom.

I never equated the two. Maybe I’m just misremembering because that era feels like two decades ago, but the only things I remember about him having “issues” was weed and him having to leave because he was considering getting help. I’m not associating misbehaviors with mental health. I’m saying I don’t consider weed a misbehavior because who gives a **** if someone smokes pot, half of our athletes probably do. And I don’t consider mental health being a misbehavior. So I was asking, outside of those two things, what misbehaviors were there? Maybe there’s some I’m legitimately unaware of.
That's fair. I don't consider a person's mental health as constituing a misbehavior either. I understood you to be saying that use of misbehavior was inapplicable to anyone with a mental health issue. But I'm "dumb" and a brutal and savage oppressor of others, so it is probably par for the course. I think I'll be off now to kick some puppies or something.

Joe Scates has similar traits. But Campbell believes in him. I'm guessing they saw a kid who had 100x the talent then was currently in the locker room and took a flyer
I don’t think Scates is like Park at all. Park was a headcase on and off the field and everywhere in between. Joe Scates to my knowledge has never been in trouble and his teammates love him and if he figures out when he’s supposed to be on the line of scrimmage or not so we don’t get illegal formation penalties, watch out.0

Wasn't Joe Scates in trouble his first season? Wasn't there an incident with a BB gun that he was somehow involved in? Suspended from team activities? Or am I thinking of another player...thought there were 4 freshmen that Campbell banned from team activities other than study tables?

Yeah I guess you’re right, Tayvon Kyle was also one of the 4 and the other 2 aren’t on the team anymore. But those issues seem behind them.

I don't think Scates has been in trouble since the BB gun incident?

I remember Campbell having a talk with him on the sideline during the 2019 TCU game, after he got into it with Gladney (who is a grade A dbag so I'm not sure how much blame I assign to JS there)

Hopefully Joe has a breakout year this year. Has the talent to be another weapon.

I got in trouble with a BB gun in Freddy court. Scared the living hell out of a foreigner from I think Japan. It can happen.

Which, of course, sounds just like Jacob Park.

(do I really need a jimlad?)

It was no walk in the Park, let's put it that way.

Having just read through the course of the conversation, I was using your post to rebut this:

Qualifying issues in high school and fooling around with a BB gun is a far cry from Jacob Park territory.

I agree...I was just confused by your response when it only included my statement in which I replied to a specific point. And to be honest, I have no idea what went on with Jacob Park while in Ames. I know the on field stuff...don't care about the other stuff as it feels like ancient history.
