Willow and Larch won't be getting any renovations for a LONG time. (Summer of 2015 would be the absolute earliest.) The den furniture is getting life-cycled as normal, but that's all. The DoR is having to spend an insane amount of money on some stuff they hadn't expected when they drew up their 10-year plan in 2005. Like it or not, Willow and Larch are two of the newest residence halls, and are in pretty good condition. Old RCA is the same way- despite their age, they've been very well-maintained, and most of those buildings are nice.

With the whole DoR finances thing, I had heard that supposedly the last head of DoR really screwed things up financially, left the people currently running it with a big mess to try and keep things maintained and upgrading in the budget.

Also, as far as other updates... don't forget that the Coover addition should be open for the fall! It looks positively awful design-wise on the outside, but inside it looks nice.. *sigh*, like Parker said, definitely looks even more like a prison on the outside..

Yeah, Randy Alexander (former DoR director) must have been smoking some good stuff. He left the current administration a huge mess to clean up, but they did. Actually, the 10-year plan was drawn up and approved, and they were in a good financial position before this other stuff ever came up. For once, something isn't Randy's fault, at least not exactly.

And yeah, WTF is up with the Coover addition? Who the heck designed that monstrosity? I'm totally down with making all of Engineering Row look modern and cool, but why does our campus have to have architectural schizophrenia? Why couldn't they go with the classy-modern glass and brick style they used on Hoover and Howe (and will use on the ABSE complex)? Or why not go with modified Georgian, like most of the buildings in that cluster? Why did it need to be something totally different from everything on campus? *sigh*

Not to mention the additional cost to build it that way. Have to say, all the cooper they added to the Lebaron addition had me more steamed then what they did to Coover. You know how much cooper cost now days, why didn't they just add gold?

Whatever that's how I feel whenever I'm in there anyway. However, I do rather enjoy when I happen to walk in after a Textiles lecture happens to be getting out of the big lecture hall as we all drool from the other side of the glass pane in the lab :cute:

Hmm, please explain. What are these "girls" of which you speak? I remember hearing rumors of such a thing in the aero department back in the day.

It would be nice if they could generate enough revenue from non-athletic events to fund the Hilton improvements. I'm not in favor of box seats, unless they are placed in the "endzones". I just don't want to see us lose any seats in the prime locations. With the other amenities available in a private box, locating them in the endzones would still be attractive. I know donors that have boxes at Jack Trice, that don't want them in Hilton. I think it makes a difference if you are there to enteratain clients or if you primary purpose is watching the game.
