I am contemplating buying a student season ticket package for an ISU student in exchange for the ISU vs. FreeRentEyes game. I am not young but I am not old. Do they check student ID's very close? In other words, is it feasible I will get in with the ticket?

I think in order to purchase student tickets, you have to have a valid ID. I could be wrong, as I've never been an ISU student, but I believe that is how it works.

If you go in during the rush right before the game, you should be fine. If you look like a student.....but I'll let you be the judge of that:biggrin9gp:

Also, a little technique I use when I sneak in some barley snacks: leave about ten feet of space between you and the person in front of you as he/she is getting their ticket torn. Then bolt through quickly, give the attendant your ticket, and you will be in be before he can get a good look at you.

I assume you are getting a student to buy the tickets for you?

Just be real careful going into the section, and don't press your luck. They're not shy about booting people out of the student section who are causing trouble or don't belong. You might try the upper deck- it's far less heavily patrolled than the lower deck. Don't go boasting that you're not a student if you stay in the student section. Just cheer for the Clones or don't say anything.

But yeah- if you get in during the big rush, you should be okay. Just wear a hat pulled a little low.

Once you're in the gate this won't work right away... but for getting into the section itself (not the stadium) people will hop the wall from the hill. Like Ornryactor said, the upper deck is less controlled, also the lower deck is less controlled near game time (so you won't have a great seat, but you will have a seat...) I can't remember if they actually check ID's in that section or just tickets though (I'm usually running and just flash both...)

Starting with the Nebraska game last year, they do check student IDs, and I would expect them to do the same from now on. Flag Guy, you never have a problem because the cops assume only a student would be crazy enough to dress like that...

They usually check my ticket the first time down... After that they remember me

At Hilton, yeah... they remember me there too :biggrin9gp:

If I remember right, they only check your student ID for the big games (Nebraska, iowa). Even then it isn't too hard to get by them without one.

Also, make sure that you Grecian Formula the graying hair, some make up or botox to help smooth and hide the wrinkles around you eyes, replace the Magnum PI mustache with some 'I've been drinking for three days' stubble and don't wear black dress socks with your sandals and maybe, just maybe you'll get in.

It would be better for the program and more ethical for you to just buy a regular season ticket and not worry about it.

If you're under 30, you can get a regular season ticket at a highly discounted rate.....then you could see the cyclones play without cheating the University you love.

(Regular Price: $350, Under Thirty Discounted Price: $195)
