Interesting. Do they do this every year? Like for the graduating seniors, each helmet fitted for that person only?

Or maybe this means one of two things. They are upgrading to the more expensive (and safer) helmets (a higher percentage anyway), or... they might me changing helmet design?

I have one of the McCarney era game used kids. Think the school sold them for $100 a piece back then.

Not sure who had mine but it's beat to hell to say the least. Whirlybird still in there.

Ugly dang thing

Sometimes they just move away from a certain model or company. One year they unloaded all the Vicis.
There seems to be 2 or 3 types of helmets worn by the players. Does anyone know why they don’t all wear the same type? Thanks

Might get another, but 500$ is a lot. These came from the rummage sales, and were 100 and 125, i think.

what if it means we're ending our FB program?

Equipment manager conversation before posting for sale ads:
"You hear Campbell interviewed for like 15 openings this year?"
"Yup. No need for these anymore."

I really want one but not for $500

Is that what they usually go for at the equipment garage sale?

I think the blacks were $250 at the last equipment sale, reds might have been $100? Either way, $500 is much too high for me (though I'm sure they'll sell out). Supply & demand, I guess.

Not exactly sure.

Helmets were 150 or 200 at the first. Jerseys were 75. Youngest got one of theirs awful yellow ones.

Helmets have expiration dates. Probably just replacing the old with the new.
I hadn't thought of that. Most definitely true if like any protective helmet.

Sometimes they just move away from a certain model or company. One year they unloaded all the Vicis.
Don't know anything about that, or, if it had anything to VICIS having gone under and selling their assets (early 2020?) to Schutt/ Innovatus Capital Partners.

Well my guess is the lesser expensive helmets are starting to become obsolete (for schools that have the money for the more expensive ones). Up to now we are maybe seeing different helmets from both the lesser cost helmet companies And the VICIS ones. The VICIS Zero1 debuted in at $1500 when they came out (not sure when) and are down to $950 per helmet now. Pretty expensive true but how much is the health of your brain worth? The cheaper helmets are much less in cost (not sure but I'd guess around $3-400 per copy???).

A new VICUS Zero2 is out now (I guess under new ownership/Schutt) and they have the cost down to "starting at $699". So the price is coming down for the 2nd gen better helmets but still a healthy sum per helmet.

So maybe these on sale are the gen1 VICIS helmets. ISU just trying to recoup some of the higher cost?

These things are like gold. In 10 years you can probably get a grand for them.
There are a bunch of older ones on ebay for about 300 so maybe not. There's one I like there but I'm going to wait till next week because by then I'll realize I don't need one!
