You don't assign a value... the ammount given it tied to your rep power and their rep power... someone with a high reputation giving rep to a low one will boost them by a lot, where as someone with less rep giving rep to someone who has a lot, it won't go up as much.

Which may be part of Pheadus's problem... you're rep is too damn high, it's probally going up by insignificant ammounts

Two posters, both with roughly equivalent rep as me, just gave me +rep, and it went up 1 point for one and zero for another.

So I doubt that is the reason....

Again, it doesn't matter to me, except I really love solving problems, and this will stick in my head until I know the answer...:wideeyed:

Well, I just gave Angie 10 million points of rep, and her rep was within 100 points of mine when I gave it.

Evidently, someone thinks I've been bad, I think....

I generally agree, I don't even hardly give it out anymore. The inflation is nuts.

I'm the same way - don't use it nearly as much as I used too.

What if it was rest?? Everyone starts back at a low number of 100 every month or something like that?

"Ahem". You DO know that they give you 100 credits, everytime you give someone +rep.

And looking at your credit balance, I'm guessing you could use a little "hep" if you know what I mean...:wideeyed:

Maybe 133M is the max rep. It is already a formula that is taken from your real rep points. Maybe it is actually 2b and that overflowed a 32bit int. For instance my shown rep is 85M, but my real rep is 1.2B. Wow, I remember when getting 20 rep points from a post was a big deal.

My suggestion would be some sort of scale, maybe color or a percentage, so that there is a maximum and minimum. It would serve a similar purpose and I do like giving rep to posts I like.

My actual rep # is just a tad over 2B. You one smart cookie, Indiana Jones....

Okay. Through experimentation, I've discovered that the "max" rep you can have is 150 mil. Once you go over it, rep granted knocks you down the equivalent amount, and then it starts building up to 150 mil again.

Your "total" rep, as portrayed on your user CP continues to climb. Now, I can finally rest. I've figured out what's going on.

P.S. - Please, please stop "rep-bombing" me in reference to this thread. It makes me feel bad, like I'm "fishing for rep".

I personally find the rep points AND the credits pretty silly myself.

To each his own, I guess, but I just find it hard to believe how people get so swept up over betting w/ valueless credits.

IMO, "rep" and "credit" go a long way towards making this a much more civilized forum.

In the (paraphrased) words of Napolean Bonaparte, "It's amazing what a man will do for a bit of ribbon on his uniform."

It is my firm opinion that "rep" and "credits" are an ingenious way to help "police the forum" and I give Jeremy and company great credit for featuring it.

We still have rep??? Credits are way more important, I cannot wait for all the betting this fall. It was so much fun last year during the end of the football season.

I agree. I have plenty of rep (probably because I can't risk it myself) but I am a complete wagering moron and have no credits. If anyone figures out a way to give me some of those let me know!
Or - perhaps someone can explain to me the difference between picking winners and losers, I havent quite grasped the concept.

Because we are all just degenerate gamblers at heart.
