Is buy.com the devil too?

As I'm purchasing a 16GB flashdrive for $25 this morning it occurred to me that buy.com is a lot like the WalMart of the internet.

They probably don't have health care for their employees either at those prices ... so do the professed WalMart haters on the board shop online at any of the discount sites?

I don't make anybody work at Walmart or buy.com. I'll buy where I want if the price is right. Especially these days.

Everyone's so agreeable this morning.

I know there are Walmart haters on the board ... shoulda put "WalMart" it in the title to bait 'em.

A lot of their discounting comes from the lack of retail space and employees. Basically those companies are a couple of web designers and a warehouse. Very little overhead so the fact that the prices are so low doesn't nessesarily mean that the employees they do have are underpaid without benefits. You may need to do some research into this before making such statements.

I'm just asking questions ... I never made any statements.

Research??!?!? Damn it, Jim. I'm a doctor not a retail sector researcher!.

so... they'd be extra bad then - on account of not paying anybody anything! At least Walmart hires people!

Ok, name this movie ... its a little more recent than the original star trek:

Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your do whatever it takes, ruin as many people's lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory retail sector researcher, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory retail sector researcher, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way?

I had to change a couple words so it was thread-relevant ... threavalent. (for you office fans)

Buy.com outsources all of their labor. Good luck if you ever have an issue.

I'm not sure if I'd buy a big electronic item from them though. But yeah, that sounds dirt cheap. I wonder how black friday is going to be this year. What will be the hot item this year??
