hell yeah i listen to yacht rock. Normally a hard rock or metal guy, but yacht rock definitely has its time and place.

It seems like I got revived in my mind about 20 years ago. I was dating a gal whose father owned a sailboat in Chula Vista, CA. Part of our impromptu vacation that spring was a drive down to South Lake Tahoe, then to Vegas, then on to the sailboat in Chula Vista. We basically used the boat as our hotel room for part of that week, as it was moored in the harbor there. Simple times, as we turned on only a few lights, fans, and the am/fm radio built into the boat. The first station I found played yacht rock exclusively, and we left it on the entire time we were there. Good times....good food, and permanently imprinted the music in my brain from that trip. So much fun and excellent times.

I beg to differ. Michael McDonald single-handedly ruined one of the best bands of the 70s, the Doobie Brothers, turning them into balladeers instead of the classic rockers they were meant to be.
I agree and it's weird because I really like McDonald's voice but I think it's better as an accompanying singer than as a lead singer.

Seems a lot like Jimmy Buffett. What’s the difference between Yacht Rock and his music?

Check this out:

This is awesome. I pretty much have that as a playlist on my Amazon. I like all kinds of music - rap, hair metal, top 40, country, 50s/60s, punk. But Yacht Rock is towards the top. There is a local band in DSM, Stark Raving Madge that are just so fun to go see and listen to, and they play a lot of this genre.
