14U - Dwight Hinson’s boy placed 2nd
16U - Dan Knight’s boy placed 1st
16U - Jacob Helgeson (Caleb’s brother) placed 1st
These 3 will be Freshman next fall. Knight is considered the best P4P Iowa freshman. Helgeson may have won the deepest 16U wait class at 138. Beat younger Avila who just took 2nd at the National tournament prior week. Hinson is a little behind these two but will be a contender at 106/113 in 2A.
16U - Brent Slade (Ames) won 160
Juniors - Joel Jesuroga won 138. Fairly weak weight class.
Juniors - Rathjen dec Hunter Garvin, 6-6 @ 145.
Juniors - Gaukel won 152
Juniors - Naaktgeboren won 170
Juniors - Barker placed 2nd at 182. Lost to Gammell (Waukee) but beat Ahrendsen (UNI)
Juniors - Voelker won 195
Juniors - Kueter won 220. Wore a Hawkeye sweat top during interview after match. Supposedly one of our top targets for 2023 but appears it will be an uphill battle.
Juniors - Greenlee 3rd. I believe he has always struggled in FS.
Some of the very best kids that have qualified for USA Nationals never completed.
