You've got to realize that any list of best schools in the state that doesn't begin with Grinnell is a joke, right?

Congrats though.

Grinnell wasn't even ranked the highest private college

For private colleges in Iowa, Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids was ranked 137th, Grinnell College was 156th, Dordt College in Sioux Center was 205th, Drake University in Des Moines was 284th, Simpson College in Indianola was 296th, Clarke University in Dubuque was 345th, Luther College in Decorah was 353rd, Loras College in Dubuque was 376th, Central College in Pella was 389th, Coe College in Cedar Rapids was 396th, Graceland University-Lamoni was 413rd, Wartberg College in Waverly was 483rd, Northwester College-Orange City was 514th, Cornell College in Mount Vernon was 546th, Grand View University in Des Moines was 661st and the University of Dubuque was 690th.

It's well known Time Magazine has a bias for Iowa State and against Grinnell.

Nah, it's just well known that Grinnell is easily a top-20 liberal arts college in the nation, among the likes of Wesleyan, Smith, Harvey Mudd. Happy for you and ISU, but to suggest Grinnell is inferior to the likes of Mount Mercy is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a long time.

I guess I don't know which school is better between Grinnell and Mount Mercy as I don't pay much attention. We do know the flagship program in the state Iowa State University is the elite one within our state's borders

That's beyond dispute. But when school A has an acceptance rate of 28% and an average ACT for incoming freshman around 30, and school B has an acceptance rate of 73% and an average ACT of around 23, hopefully you can see the stupidity of saying school B is better.

Exactly right. Which is why these rankings should be taken with a grain of salt. But I recently saw one of these rankings stating that Knox College (a peer of Grinnell) has one of the worst ROI of any college which I don't doubt. There are a million ways to rank a college.

Coping mechanism #84.
