Matt and Miller are asking Hawk fans who their biggest rival is. They have gotten no unanimous answer from callers so does that mean that ISU is their biggest rival if they can't make up their mind on anyone else? I have a feeling they will not admit it even if it is true. Some of my closest Hawk fan friends absolutely hate Iowa State more than any other of their Big Ten foes, yet they don't call it a rivalry. If both sides hate each other, that classifies it as a rivalry doesnt it??

They're our biggest rival, and we're theirs whether they want to admit it or not.

I know a kid that absolutely refuses to come to Ames because he hates ISU so much. Yet, he tries to tell me Minnesota is their biggest rival. They won't admit it but I saw numerous 'Beat State' shirts last weekend in IC. The majority of their fanbase is a joke.

Animosity wise, ISU is the biggest rival. Importance wise, it's been Wisconsin lately. I'd also challenge that animosity wise, Illinois is right up there as well. Minnesota.... not so much. It's just fun to beat the Gophs.

USC or Florida are Iowa's biggest rivals. Seriously.

If Iowa State fans were asked the same question I dont think you would get a unanimous answer either. Mizzou, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, K State would all receive votes.

What's funny is if you asked the same question to the other 10 teams in the Big 10 none of them would say Iowa is there biggest rival. I've been to a Wisconsin/Minnesota game and there is no doubt that is a rival game.

OK, I'll be the first one here to admit they are our biggest rival. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't rather beat Texas, OU, Nebraska, etc.

Both teams are each other's biggest rival by default. Neither team has any real single biggest rival in their respective conferences, so both teams are left with each other.

We're there biggest rival no doubt. They don't go on Badger boards like they do here.... there's no comparison. They can say whatever they want, but it's a big deal to both of us.

+1

Minnesota is our longest rival, Wisconsin is pry the most important, and ISU/Illinois are side by side for "most hated" IMO.

Their fans that are on this board morning, noon, and night, are not what I would call real Iowa fans -- the closest they ever get to campus is watching the games on TV, heck most of them are posting on here instead of sitting in the stands when "their" team is playing! As our esteemed Athletic Director, er, "Director of Athletics" would say, "Why listen to them -- they don't pay the bills".

I like "why don't you put your money where your mouth is" better.

For me the sqwaks are number on my list and its by a long shot, beating those arogant sob's makes my year. Every big 12 school is a distant second compared to EIU

If you want to go that route, Iowa wouldn't count as our longest or most important rival either. And Iowa/Nebraska would probably be side by side for "most hated".

In order for Iowa to have Minnesota or Wisconsin be a real rival that means something wouldn't the other team also regard you as their #1 rival? I know that Minnesota and Wisconsin fans that will tell you that Iowa is a distant second on their list. It's kind of like ISU and Kansas in basketball. ISU considers KU as a rival where KU just doesn't care. It makes for an interesting game for ISU fans but to call it a rivalry just doesn't seem right.
