Since Carver is literally built into a hole in the ground, the only way to go for seats is down. Ground level/door level is actually the very top row of seats. This means that there really aren't any "bad" seats, and it's actually harder to get to the "good" seats since it's just one crazy long (and fairly steep) staircase to get down to them.

Be prepared, even with your child, for some colorful language/actions to be thrown your way. Not just from the students, either as they don't take kindly to anyone not in blank and gold in their home.

Also, as big of a pain as parking can be around Hilton for big games, Carver is way worse. There is only one road leading away from the arena, and you will have to cross the street to get to any lots.

For anyone attending the game, that want to say hi to a fellow clone in "attendance" I'll be working a concession stand in Carver for my hometown Lion's Club. I believe it is right above section K, but I could be wrong, and it's right by one of the men's restrooms too. Two birds, one stone, etc. etc...

Both guys could not have been nicer and more polite ( yes sir...happy to, sir), and made great videos that made my son light up like a Xmas tree.

I love reading stories like this! Thanks for sharing.

Btw, they are doing a blackout for this game. Wear as much Cardinal as possible!

as mentioned, if you or your kid have any mobility problems (or have to go potty every 5 minutes) you probably dont want to sit at the bottom. there is no mid-level concourse.

Every team, in every city has their awhole fans, and rivalry games always make them worse.

The only bad seats in Carver would be directly behind the baskets up to about row 15ish, otherwise you've got a good view from anywhere. Parking is, well, not the greatest. You'll probably end up parking in the Finkbine commuter lot off of Hawkins and walking to the game from there. Good chance you may end up doing some piggyback carrying, but that's always a good dad moment for them.

With the game being at 7 on a Friday, traffic will suck and finding a place to eat will suck. The earlier you can get into town the better if you want to eat something other than arena food.

Probably getting to IC around 3. A hawk told me to eat at Wig & Pen. Any good?

This pretty much sums it up- seats in the 30th row in CHA will be very good. From a pure sports viewing standpoint I like CHA. Parking is horrid. As for the language I wouldn't worry. My experience is that while Kinnick is full of rowdy idiots CHA is usually full of old people and fat students hoping its free ice cream cone night.
Parking is terrible. Dress warm because you are likely in for a hike.

Naz and Niang are simply awesome. They are great leaders for our team and representatives of ISU.

You type everything out with paragraphs and good grammar but why do you abbreviate game?
Great question to which I really have no answer ( I didn't even realize I was doing it, LOL)

thanks for for all the tips. We are both healthy and mobile, and getting into town early, so we can avoid the traffic. Our biggest challenge right now is securing tickets

I grew up going to games at CHA. It is a fine arena with good sight lines. Also, the pep band is way less annoying than ours. Two nit picks though are all the old ppl and also the unusually long nets on the hoops...always bothered me even as a kid. If you are sitting near the 30th row, make sure to look up to see the curtains they installed during the Lickliter era. They were still there last season although they are no longer needed. Should be a fun, exciting game but hope the Cyclones get the W!

Yes. Good food. In the past they have run a shuttle to Carver for the games, but no idea if they are doing it anymore. If you get there at that time you should have no problem grabbing a bit to eat there or next door at the Vine, but the food is better at Wig and Pen.

All right, Iowa tickets scored! Took some good advice here and choses secAA row 30 ( around 3 pt line ). Super excited.

Now I need to score the lower parquet at Hilton for Southern and all is good
