Between the stories from the RR Shootout and this one about A&M and TT, I wonder how much Iowa State and Iowa fans really hate each other. I think Iowans might be too nice overall to really allow a rivalry to fester.

See the problem is, we're in the Northern part of the country, and Texas Tech, A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma are in the South.

Yes this is pretty obvious, but what do they have in the south that we don't have in the North? Deep Southern Hatred. We claim hatred in the north but it's largely an excuse to give each other ****, they're really on a whole other level down there.

Heh, though I don't think that compares to football in Poland -
In Krakow there are 2 soccer clubs. Things are so bad that the city council has to decide if they will allow opposing fans into the stadium for the rivalry game or not, and how many. Last year they let like 300 in. Those fans couldn't go directly to the stadium, they had to go to their own stadium, where they were loaded into buses and given a police escort to the other stadium. When the buses approached the stadium, the home fans started throwing stuff at the buses. The people in the buses had come prepared, before getting on the buses they had torn up concrete from a street and put chunks in their pockets; so when their buses started getting pelted they busted out the windows of the bus and started throwing chunks of concrete back at the home fans

Talk about intense :twitcy:

Hmm I didn't hear about testicles getting ripped off or ruptured in Poland (I am aware of the incident between the Oklahoma and Texas fans...), but I was on a biking tour of the city so... I dunno.

Either way Iowa/ISU for most people is a fun rivalry, nothing serious like some teams

I have hatred for all things hawkeye imprinted on my DNA. It was expensive, and one of those pinhead bio-engineers mispelled "loser", but other than that, it was worth it.

I really, really, hate the hawk. And his evil sidekick, hawkfan, too!

I also hate the hawks...but it is clear from this board that many of our Cyclone brethren do not. Certainly not like Auburn and Alabama, for example.

Yeah it is not nearly as bad here. Case in point, Iowa is not my most hated school. That is Nebrasksa, then ND, and probably then Iowa.

It makes a BIG difference that some of the most heated rivalries are inter-conference matchups. If we were playing Iowa for position in the league or to stop them from winning the conference or vice versa, there would be much more hate. There are a few exceptions, but most of the time both teams are in the same conference.

The hated is there you just doing always hear about it. My fraternity house in college would always play the same house from Iowa every Iowa/ISU in a flag football game. The game always turned into tackle and fight after fight would just break out. Full beers would get thrown at us so there is hatetred there. I have been hit in the head with a full beer can just walking through the parking lots at kinnick.

Didn't we screw them when they lost to us in 2003???

Once in how many years? I don't think they would have even made the national title game with no losses, would they?

Just think how much better it would have been to beat them if we were in the same conference...costing them a conference championship AND a potential BCS title game shot.
