Who would be on the roster?

125 - Castillo*, Meza, Perryman (Is Kysen out of eligibility?)
133 - E Frost, Osmany, Pearson* (Is Grice out of Eligilbility?)
141 - J Frost, (Is Redding out of eligibilty?)
149 - Swiderski, Panrio, Fousek, (Will Ech be back?)
157 - Chittum, Kane Naak, Stanton*
165 - Euton, Riggins, Rojas, Hegleson
174 - MJ, Hegleson
184 - Tate Naak, Nando, Bartlet
197 - Hagarty, Carroll, Schon
285 - Yonger, Herrera, Carter.

That is 28. Weights aren't necessarily accurate, but feel staff will want about a 3 deep lineup.
Did I miss any incoming freshman? They are marked with an *

Will there be 3 Heglesons on the roster next year or is the one a junior in high school this year?

What about the Ech/Med RS? Maybe he comes back, I don't know anything but it's worth considering since we haven't seen him.

Need to sell ech on being on another trophy team. Bastida would be the favorite at hwt next year if he comes back. Pay them Cubans enough to stick around.

Ech is another question mark that I should include, esp if Yonger medically redshirts

The list looks good, but another thing to consider is that if this comes to fruition, there is going to be some talented wrestlers in the portal. A cursory glance at Wrestlestat shows PSU with 16 true freshmen and recruits. OSU has 19.

Hard to say how it will all shake out.

30 man rosters will certainly help with depth.

Since NIL is now a factor, hoping that will impact Ped State a bit and make things more competitive. With the team race being mostly decided before the season starts, it would be nice to get some parity going.

I think we've got 5 recruits coming in? Castillo, Pearson, TJ Koester, Stanton and Jacob Helgeson.

4 guys for sure done I believe, Terukina, Redding, Schmidt and Bockman.

2 maybe done, Yonger if he takes medical RS and Ech has another year but previously wasnt going to use it. For the sake of the roster crunch, I'll assume they are coming back because we'll make room for them if they want to.

Roster stands at 42 today, plus 5 incoming, minus 4 out of eligibility = 43 on the roster. 13 have to go if the limit is 30. My guess...

125 - Castillo, Meza
133 - Frost, Diversent, Grice, Pearson
141 - Swiderski, Frost, Koester
149 - Paniro, Echemendia, K. Naak
157 - Chittum, Stanton
165 - Euton, Riggins, Rojas, J. Helgeson
174 - Gaitan, T. Naak, O. Helgeson
184 - Bartelt, Nando, C. Helgeson
197 - Carroll, Schon, Hagerty
285 - Bastida, Herrera, Carter

That means you'd have to "cut"

125 - Perryman
133 - Acklin, Giomo
141 - Hrabovsky
149 - Fousek
157 - Stotts, Stanek
165 - Carver
174 - (none)
184 - Runner
197 - Carlucci, Cates, Udell
285 - Bruening

Tough freaking deal to have to do that. On top of that, of the 30 I listed to keep on the roster, only two (Ech and Yonger) would be out of eligibility after next season. So class of 2026 is going to be very small, especially if you want to look at anyone in the portal as well.

I'm curious if the House settlement specifies that the roster limits are for varsity programs. If not, I wouldn't be surprised to see some schools start offering a JV team and/or a freshman team to get around the varsity roster limit.

For example, North Carolina currently has a JV MBB team:

-----
17.29.5.2 Maximum Limitations -- Student-Athlete. An individual student-athlete may participate in each academic year in not more than 16 dates of competition in men's wrestling, which may include not more than two occasions in which a multiple-day event or two consecutive dual meets are held within three consecutive days that shall each count as a single date of competition (see Bylaw 17.29.5.1.1). This limitation includes those dates of competition in which the student represents the institution in accordance with Bylaw 17.02.8, including competition as a member of the varsity, junior varsity or freshman team of the institution.

I also wonder with the 10% budget cut that Pollard has asked for, if the encourages a smaller roster.

My thought was along these lines too. I'm sure coaches will find a way to game this, like they do everything else. KD knows has to work within the lines as well as anyone too.

Dresser has mentioned the idea that wrestlers could be offered a spot on the CRTC instead of the official roster.

Bartelt looks to be an 84 lb in size. He worked over Hagerty yesterday, I liked his abilities. Hopefully he nails down that weight. Hopefully Yonger and Ech are back.

I will be surprised if Rojas or O. Helgeson stay on the team. I’m fairly sure Stanton did not sign in the fall so not sure what that means, if anything. Also, I assume the older Helgeson is injured again so would not be surprised if he hangs it up.

I’m sure we will be trying to add 2-4 transfers after the season.
