I'd argue the "why" is really what families want to know. Hearing the guy say it was random and he loved it can possibly give you some closure that its nothing their loved one did or said, they just got caught it a sickos fantasy. I'd certainly be in that camp if I was in their shoes.

I do get what you are saying. But I guess my first thought is, how do you know if he's telling the truth? If he stands up there and says it was totally random would you ever believe him?

It's not a burglary and it's clearly not some kind of relational type thing. All that leaves you with is a sociopathic lunatic that acted out on his bizarre desires. So whether they were targeted or random, that's what you are left with-- an absolute psycho who couldn't control his demons. If he gets up there and says I did it because I was attracted to them, does that give anyone closure?

I'm for whatever is best for the family and remaining roommates, but I just don't think anyone is going to get what they are looking for, even if he admitted motive.

At the press conference, they reported there is no link showing BK visited any of their social media, their work etc. That would drive me nuts.

Also I didn’t follow every detail of this, but if it wasn’t for the knife sheath, would they have ever found out who did it?

Watch the 4 part doc on Amazon Prime - amazing level of detail. They had his type car making repeated trips and could have caught him that way eventually. But definitely would have been way harder.

I mean, I get it but I don't know what people think they are going to get. He's obviously a sick, demented **** that acted on his sick, demented desires. I just don't know what part of the "why" gives anyone any closure.
I get that it may be comforting to know if there was a reason he chose those victims or if it was just basically random.

Part of the problem is if you force him in some way to say why, how do you know you’re getting the truth as opposed to a statement designed to manipulate you in some way? Unless he does it on his own, there is no way to know that what he is saying is the truth.

If I recall they had him on their radar from a geofence subpoena. But there were others also. Could be wrong.

Been reading a lot of this over time, not seeking it out but just comes up and intriguing enough to read so I do. Going to list it here as I'm recalling:

Sheath in the house had his DNA so there's no explaining that.
One survivor saw him in the house and recalled his eyebrows.
Phone had pinged towers 20+ times in a 3-6 month period prior around their house.
His vehicle had been caught on camera in the area multiple times including night of.
Had previously stalkished a girl that rejected him when he was younger that looked similar to 2 of the victims.

Just off my random reading recollection so not all concrete but feel like it's mostly close to the facts and motive (being rejected by similar looking girl growing up).
