Hy-Vee, notorious for sinking cash into these desperate/hopeless ventures, then turning around and paying their employees (save for the ones at the tippy top) a garbage wage. I worked therein management for several years up until 2018 with a good friend. I had become jaded over the years with everything going on and finally found a solid M-F gig. My poor buddy is still hard at it, hasn't been given a promotion despite applying and has only had annual cost of living raises each year since I hung it up. No idea why he's still there. Talk about loyal to a fault.

Are there any Hy-Vee drugtowns left? The one in FD closed probably 5 years ago.
There are some in crapids that are I think called hyvee drugstore now. I believe they are old drugtowns that got a face-lift and new sign, also one I know got turned into a hyvee gas.

Hy-Vee of today is just a total and complete disaster. They are lucky the other options are bad too. I know others shop at Fareway and Aldi but those have never seemed to have what I would need. Maybe I should finally give them a try again.

Won’t do Walmart and Target groceries stink.
Central Iowa used to have great groceries but now it is a wasteland.

Target drive up is excellent. Agree it can be hit or miss on groceries, but if you don’t need anything complex it works.

Haven’t tried Fareway or Aldi drive up yet.

My brother, who worked a Fareway meat counter for years, said Fareway is getting into online order and delivery for their Meat Market. He listens to some pro wrestling podcast and I think Chris Jericho was advertising the Meat Market and ordering line. I am sure it is better than Omaha Steaks.

We stopped into Target over Christmas to get some stuff we had forgotten and we were looking to pick up a frozen pizza for our snack night. Their selection was absolutely abysmal. I will use their pickup for regular Target stuff but I just wouldn’t ever be able to make the switch for groceries.

Possible it depends by store. Ankeny Target has decent selections but there’s still specific things you’re better off getting elsewhere.

Each time I’ve done their pickup my order has been ready within a couple hours of placing it. A couple Saturdays ago I decided to go to the gym first thing, but before I left placed my order in the Target app (had a list already so it didn’t take long). By the time I finished my workout my order was ready and I just swung by on the way home. Having both of those done by 9-9:30 is a good feeling.

I've had really good experiences with Fareway pick up. Fast, accurate, and you can add items up to a half hour before your scheduled time.

This smells like desperation.

Hy-Vee should be known as a place with clean stores, variety, and employees who are helpful.

I get trying to build an experience, but as a consumer this is all I want. I will pay more for a can of peas to avoid ******* Aldi or Trader Joe's or Walmart.

So I get the experience part. I don't understand why Hy-Vee believes this is the experience I'm looking for.

I exclusively use Fareway's online order/pickup and Aldi/Instacart online order and pickup. Both have been great for me.

One of my best friends was an assistant store manager who, like many others, was forced out after 30 years of service. The current CEO seems to be a wack job. Fancies himself an ultra creative type who continually tries to force the business into things that make no sense. When they don't work, he blames the employees. He sounds like a moron.
Aren't all bosses morons? Except you and me. and I sometimes worry about you. ;)
