Urbandale
I attended Urbandale High School while Hutch was the principal there. He was very respected throughout that school district and he related to students better than just about any principal/teacher that I have ever seen. Very sad to see this happen to such a nice guy.

This is pretty tough in Glenwood - I don't think Glenwood is trashy honestly. Scenery is amazing around there and their brewery is awesome... but like many smaller towns it has some issues. Glenwood seems to be evolving into a quasi Omaha suburb - for those that don't want to live in CB.

Per a friend in Glenwood - Principal Hutch is supposedly quite beloved - even by the most troubled kids there, so the whole community is in shock and I think its homecoming week so even more concerning.

Per release - there were 3 former male students, and 3 MINOR females - Hutch and his wife were assaulted, but Hutch sounds like he was/is in bad shape. Thus Hurl Beechum warned and shot one of the guys in the leg. Seems like total self defense and I'm sure that he is quite torn about this, but I would have done the same.

Other details (specifically events leading up to this & what was said there) are being held tight as I think this is being investigated by multiple angles. I REALLY hope its not a hate crime - but if it is I hope they throw the book at these toolbags. Seeing pictures of Hutch with kids and such - We need leaders like him in communities like Glenwood.

I can assure - there are a ton of prayers and tears over this, and the support for Hutch in Glenwood will only escalate over the week.
Hutch is a unique case. Sometimes he is well respected by students the but that isn't always the case. I don't know who you are ForTheSquad. However I always found that he worked well with the students that struggled and the few leaders of the grades, but really struggled connecting with the rest of the school. I know I was glad when he left Urbandale. Then there is the situation with why he left. I never really heard for certain what it was, but the rumors I heard were bad. If I am not mistaken he was also let go from Saydel for a similar reason.

I will say this. When I first heard about the story I was shocked he had found another job as a principal.

No reason to sully a man's reputation based on unsubstantiated rumors. Rumors like this always exist at schools and from my experience they are most always BS or huge exagerations yet most people believe it as iron clad fact. I have seen a lot of kids and families of the rumored damaged too. So no need to insert that into the conversation.

I feel fairly confident in them (as in 95%+). It would be one thing if it was just rumors after he left. These rumors were there for all 4 years I was at Urbandale and then they were really common when his employment was discussed where he was essentially fired. Even if they aren't true that doesn't eliminate the fact that he wasn't universally liked as others have suggested.

So just say he wasn't universally liked few educators are. Unless you 100% know something is true, then you really don't and you certainly don't know all of the story.

I've had a crush on Hurl since I was 9. This just breaks my heart! A 20 year old was arrested ..I guess he had a gun and sword in his truck and had posted something on Facebook.

You may have a point if I said what they were. All I said was that he was fired therefore his abilities to be a principal can and should be questioned.

I am not a big fan of rumors but we have lots of unsubstantied rumors on here all the time that have much less evidence.

I know it's his job. but man, those statements from the lawyer...

Would be hard to lie for a living.

Very typical for James Martin Davis. He almost always attempts to try his cases in the media. A client can be the worst of the worst and is described as a choir boy in a Davis interview.

The real victim here is Jiffy Lube

I wonder who he said he was out to get on Facebook, the shooter or the shootee?

Given he was pulled over within a half mile of the Principals home....my hunch is that there is police guard/patrol around the Hutch home

Surprised he didn't claim they just happened to be walking en masse by the principal's home because they were collecting alms for the poor.

The shooter and/or the principal. Stated "This is a call to arms... others seeking vigilante justice assemble" some other stupid crap. Apparently friends with the idiots who jumped the two guys.

The shooter, I'm sure

That was my guess, but I assumed the guys involved probably didn't live far from there either since they were walking. But that makes sense since this is kid about the same age and was probably a friend.
