I'm on the board of the Iowa State Alumni of Denver group. We are trying to plan an event of some kind for the game in Boulder in October. Boulder is not cheap and the tailgating scene is scattered at best. We are trying to put together a tailgate party with ticketing, wristbands, a couple of food trucks (one entree included), and unlimited beer/seltzer (no other alcohol available). Profits from the sale of tickets would help to fund our scholarship. An alternative idea is to go simple and find a bar/restaurant to host ISU fans with a cash bar the night before. How much would you be willing to pay for a single ticket to a tailgating party like this?

Iowa State fans are cheap but maybe for an away game they would pony up. I would go less rather than more.

Cool idea though. Props to you guys out there. People will show up.

Thanks all. We should also call out that we would tier pricing based on those under 21 or who wouldn't be drinking alcohol, kids under 13 (free), etc. Unfortunately just to get a tailgate lot for this that's within walking distance of Folsom is $$$. We're uncovering all stones along the way, though. Looking forward to seeing y'all in Boulder either way!

Alcohol? This is Colorado.... I think you meant Edibles. Heck, let's do both!

Not sure if we'll go to Boulder for the game but we did the Tickets 4 Less all-inclusive tailgate for the KU game at Arrowhead last year. Think it was like $55 for food and unlimited beer/seltzer so similar to what you are thinking. Good deal and would definitely do it again rather than figure out a tailgating setup and food/booze.

I would consider reaching out to the Dallas Ft Worth Cyclone Club. They do this very well and have lots of practice. Never went for FB but have made a few of their BB meet ups.

$50-$60 seems reasonable for a good tailgate spot with other Cyclones, food, and unlimited drinks. You could tier it with a no alcohol option too possibly. For $30-$40.

I've paid similar (probably less though) for ISU tailgates in Austin and more recently, Waco.

$50 feels reasonable to me

I like under 13 free, but I wouldn't be opposed to paying something, or at least paying for their food.

I might be bringing my 5 and 8 year olds to the game. Appreciate them getting into this free, but I'd have no issue paying for their meals

Heck the easy solution to this is to throw a few bucks into their scholarship fund.

Yeah, going $5-10 for 5-12 year olds is very reasonable and may pop 100-200 extra bucks.

Yep, we've done several calls with DFW & Austin and learned what's worked and what to avoid. Now just at a point where we need to bring costs down to make it work for as many Cyclones as we can.

Make sure whoever you have providing your alcohol has their off-site liquor license in order. Just because someone has a license for their bar or restaurant doesn't mean they can use it anywhere. Also, just because someone has a license in one jurisdiction doesn't mean they can use it in another. While you may or may not be on the hook if they don't and there are fines, you will at the very least have a lot of unhappy customers who bought a ticket for promised alcohol and then not have any at the event. You would likely have to refund a bunch of people.

I remember years ago a local bar, Cy's Roost I think it was, got busted for bootlegging for selling alcohol at a tailgate next to Cyclone Stadium. Their bar's liquor license did not cover off-site sales.
