well damn you pilots... that is a nice jet, but its owned by USA Jets or something. I would assume Michigan would have a jet?

Maybe. But I would think they'd be better off leasing one, if they were to have on on standby.

More often than not, don't alums or boosters "donate" jet usage?

With all of the costs involved fractional ownership is the way most companies go over actually owning their own plane. I would assume most big schools do the same.

Detroit's airport is very close to Ann Arbor. I think it is around 15-20 min drive if I remember right.

It is, but I think this one (KYIP) is even closer to Ann Arbor than DTW judging by that map.

BTW, My company (Townsend) used to have a Citation X. Almost got on it a few times, once would of been a flight to the Netherlands, with a stop in New York, and Iceland or Greenland for fuel. Its about 9-10 hours airtime, 14-16 hours total commercial. It can be done with the Citation X in about 6-8 total.

The owner of the company sold the company, kept the plane. I think he just got a brand new one, he's been leasing it and the pilots out and making a killing.

From what I've read about this, Michigan uses USA Jets or whatever as their charter company and uses that same airport for team/coach travel, etc. The size of the jet would make it so the nearest airport to Iowa and Michigan would be the places it's taking off and landing from. The jet ended up being on the ground for about 40 minutes instead of the scheduled 15.

You know, in the future when people can be beamed from one location to another - we're gonna be screwed in tracking down coaching prospects unless we can trace atom vapor trails.

In the year 3000, everything's gonna be instant. We can just teleport anywhere we need to be, but going to the DMV will still take 9 seconds.

Honestly, is that even within the realm of possiblilty? I would beam myself to Florida everyday after I got home. Even if that was invented, I bet that the goverment would hide it from the public.

Right, that was discussed a long while back I think, the ISU plane no longer available on flight tracker.

I'm hoping we have no need to track it for a very long time. :)
