and will somebody please rebound? It was painful to see Brackins with 10 points and 2 rebounds at half. When you're 6'10", that should never happen.

Everyone needs to finish at the bucket better. Everyone needs to defend better so we don't have to help so much and give up open 3s.
Oh, and ISU marketing, great job sucking all the energy out of the building before the game.

A perfect microcosm of what I've been talking about here!
Why? Because I've read the info about the game, saw the stat line and have watched the vast majority of the games this season.
Why don't you dispute the points that were made about this team?

I've thought that about myself before, too. But we put this thing into overtime while I was watching, and played OK in OT.
Of course, we also failed to block out on that missed free throw at the end while I was watching, so I guess I shouldn't get a real big head about my TV presence.
What is with this Soft talk? And bad performance?
This was by far our best effort on defense and we showed a ton of toughness down the stretch. We really need to learn how to finish and make free throws. We do that, we win the game by 20. Houston rarely had an easy shot, we were in their face the whole game and they were crashing the boards with 4 people. I was impressed with Houston. We'd play 34 seconds of great "D" and they would still come up with the shot.

I didn't start the name calling - labeling fans "pathetic" is in itself pathetic. It's the team's job to at least hustle every game. I've got many in my section who used to play ball and perhaps still do recreationally - they can tell when a team doesn't give a damn about rebounding the ball.
Also, I recognize many folks around me who go absolutely crazy and scream non-stop for volleyball, so this just in...it's not the fans, it's the team.

The soft talk came from some poor effort on the boards. We did need to rebound a lot better.
A factual point? You say the team is soft and lacks effort but that is not necessarily a fact but an opinion. The rebounds were 44-42 with O Reb at 15-11. I will give you we should have a better stat on the OR but lack of effort and the rebounds are basically even. Dont confuse facts with your opinion.
I stopped reading your points when you said you didn't watch, listen, or attend. It's like your proud that you have some great points and you are making some kind of a stand by complaining without actually knowing what happened during the game. Worst kind of fan in my book.

Ham needs more shots. What's he shooting? something like 85%. He also needs to learn how to box out. I know he's a soph and hope his game continues to improve. Lucca shot well from three, but is a complete liability on D. Buckley didn't see the floor and I'll bet he's gonna transfer. What else? Craig might as well stick around and finish his degree. In the long run it will pay off much better for him because there's no way he's an NBA caliber player. What's he gonna do when someone pulls a gun in the locker room? Not near tough enough. Great job by DG an MG in overtime.
I agree - "down the stretch"; we got really stingy on D. But at first it seemed we were a little 'confused' with the weave offense and they were pretty hot hitting the fade jump shot; I was pretty confident they couldn't keep that up the entire game.
You guys have spent about 10 posts complaining about posters and haven't really seen any points about the team you guys have made except for the soft comment from 22 earlier but if anything, I think this team did not look soft in the end. Maybe they are in the game thread but don't see them in here.
There are still a lot of concerns about this team.
The main concerns I have are rebounding, free throw shooting, overall toughness, and shot selection, especially shot selection early in the game.
If any ISU fan does not think that getting out-rebounded on your home floor by one of the poorest re-bounding teams in the country, and by a team that overall was much smaller than ISU, I don't know what to say to you. The game went into overtime because ISU gave up 2 quick offensive rebounds (one to a 5 8 player) right at the end. That is a problem.
Hitting 2/3 of your free throws is not good, and it will cost this team games in Big 12 play.
Watch the start of games. Shot selection is usually terrible. It seems our first option always at the start of games is to shoot the 3 pointer, and outside of Lucca, I do not understand that at all. Establish your play inside with Gilstrap, Brackins, Hamilton early, and the outside shots will be there later. Plus, as athletic as Gilstrap and Brackins are, they should be able to get other teams in foul trouble early if they play inside. Personally, the last thing I want to see when the game starts is Brackins and Gilstrap putting up 3's. That is okay with BF's team and the 5 3 point shooters he puts on the floor, but not this team, and yet that seems to happen every game.
The team is soft. Gilstrap can mix it up, as can Dendy. Boozer when he is in, which he hardly was today. But Brackins look like he wants to avoid contact. The NBA scouts will notice that.
Gilstrap is the best player on this team, although today, he did disappear for long stretches. I think the fact that he had to guard Coleman may have affected the rest of his game.
The most disappointing thing for me is that I do not seen many changes from the start of the year. At the start of the year, rebounding, free throw shooting, and toughness were a problem, and they still are. No progress. ISU won this game today primarily because Houston's 2 main rebounders fouled out, and Gilstrap was able to take control.
Sorry, but if this play continues, I think Duke will crush ISU, and this team will struggle a lot in the Big 12.

Then they must have been so poor I didn't even know I was supposed to respond to them. You have checked out. If you don't even care enough to watch the game then why comment. Just leave and check back during spring football.
I'm just going to accept the fact that this team plays ugly. Despite the sloppinesss, we still held them to less than 40% from the field and less than 30% from 3 point land. How far this style takes us in league play remains to be seen....
