Even though this procedure is probably pretty simple, anything involving heart surgery scares the heck out of me.

Obviously scary anytime you have to go under for surgery, hope it goes well. I don't think this is a surprise though, I'm pretty sure he had talked before about needing it replaced in the next couple years.

The surgery is at the Mayo Clinic. They'll take excellent care of him.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Coach!

@TravisHines21: Hoiberg said he found out today he would need the surgery, but learned in January his pacemaker would need to be replaced inside 14 months.

@TravisHines21: He called the surgery routine for anyone with a pacemaker, though it'll be his first time having the procedure.

@TravisHines21: The surgery will be done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. and Hoiberg said he anticipated being released tomorrow afternoon.

Okay, I'm gonna say it. If the surgeon is a Gopher or Hawkeye, I say we have an ISU vet grad go up and do it. We can't gamble at this point. With the strides Freddie is blowing past those too, you can't put anything past them.

@TravisHines21: Hoiberg: "I’ll probably be off my feet here for a little while and l guess literally get my batteries recharged."

I guess all those close games last year did catch up with him.

I was going to post something similar. As much as much heart stopped last year his pacemaker must have been overworked! Best wishes out to Fred!

I would feel more confident if Fred was doing the surgery himself. History has shown he is better than most at everything.

I bet he's upset he has to do this in July, isn't July one of the biggest recruiting months of the year? I would hate to have him rush things...

I think I read somewhere that the batteries only last for 5-10 years, so he would probably need to have an operation to get them replaced in the near future anyway.
