Handicap Parking @ Jack Trice

I've gotten tickets to the Kansas game from my son and I, and my brother and his son who is uses a wheelchair. Does anyone have experience with handicap parking in lot S1 on a game day? Wondering if we need to get there super early or if only an hour before game time would be fine. We won't be going to do any tailgating really, so was hoping we wouldn't need to show up 4 hours before kick just to get a spot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It fills up fast, at least a couple hours before an early season game. I have seen people say if they shown up and its full they make the parking staff find them another spot (in an adjacent lot or area). I can't speak to that personally, but would think your milage would vary depending on who you're talking to.

There is actually a lot of tailgating that takes place in the handicap lot so like Kenny said you will definitely want to be there at least a couple hours early. I will say his though, it does really depend on what time kickoff is and what the weather is going to be like. I know people have had luck getting parked a lot or two over when it fills up but I wouldn't bet on that either.

Honestly if you're showing up that late I would just drop off your brother and son first on 4th and University then find a place to park. Would not expect there to be any open handicap parking

If S1 is full, they will have a place in one of the other S lots. At least that’s how it has been in the past. Contact the ticket office to verify.

Depending on the game and weather, S1 usually fills fast.

Thanks everyone, I guess I assumed there wouldn't be tailgating in that lot. Maybe we'll change plans and decide to do something then.

I'd also thought about just dropping off as well. When I go to games I usually park at the parking deck on Wallace and walk over, but figured that'd be a long way for a wheelchair.

With the Kansas game being a 6 PM kickoff we've decided to try and tailgate in the handicap spots in Lot S1. Does anyone know if you have to buy a parking pass like normal before the game or do you show up and pay when you park? Just wondering if its different for the handicapped lot.

You just show up and pay. We showed up at 10:15 for the 3:30 uni game and there were 4 spots available which where promptly filled. Talking to those surrounding many showed up at 7:30 when the lots opened.
