Has anyone put one of these up before? I am going to put mine up this weekend. It is the MVP one and just the size of it is intimidating. I won it on a march madness bracket awhile back and now the kids are old enough to use it. Are they easy to put up?

I'm thinking of getting one this summer but I'm going to pay someone else to put it in. I seem to screw these types of projects up.

I haven't done a Goalsetter, I've got a Silverback 60".
Concrete, post, etc are all pretty straightforward. You'll need help hanging the backboard.
If you have the pivoting tilt up base, then it's probably a different story, and much easier.

On this topic, what other brands of in ground hoop systems have people had good luck and been pleased with?

Yeah its the real deal crank up basket with the tilt up base I believe. All I know is the rim alone feels like its 50lbs plus

Put up a hoop last summer. Was a PITA with an auger as our ground was hard as a rock. I think I mixed up 13 bags of quikrete a half a bag at a time in a 5 gal bucket.

It’s straight and sturdy but I would definitely pay for someone else to do it next time.

For the MVP I'd have a couple guys help you. Two to lift while the third bolts it into place.

Goalsetter is a good hoop. Folks got one for me as a kid in probably like 2002 or so still looks and works great.

A quick tip for hanging the backboard. Back a pickup up to the post, set the backboard bottom edge on the tailgate, then you only have to lift a little bit so a person can quickly put a couple bolts thru to hold it on.

How did you get the ball to float like that?

I have a Spaulding. Have had it for 12 years with kids playing on it qlmost every day and it still looks new. Recommend the 60 inch backboard as the 54 inch can look small depending on your house. Also recommend the 6 inch pole to limit wobble.

I've got the same goalsetter MVP. I probably went overkill a bit on the hole and concrete, so I made more work for myself than needed I suppose. Once you get the little post set in concrete and level, setting up the hoop itself is a piece of cake. Just took a few minutes. I had someone else help me tilt it up when ready. With two guys it's easy to tilt up. Put mine up last summer and my kids have probably several hundred hours on it and I don't notice any issues with it. Still looks great to me, doesn't have much give or movement at all. Mine is on a 30'x32' pad. Best money I've ever spent on my kids.
