I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO pumped for this. Seriously, I could care less that we only won 2 games this year as long as we win this mascot challenge. If we win this, I bet Ames goes crazy. I'm talking - cars being thrown into Lake Laverne and restaurants handing out free cheese- crazy. Let's get nasty.

Yes, although I don't know the final totals. Couldn't find them quickly on the site this morning. go here Capital One Bowl: 2008 Mascot Challenge to find the schedule from this week on. Cy goes against winner of The Bird/Cocky matchup this week.

Remember that the first 11 weeks' standings were based first on win-loss records, and second by vote totals (for those with the same w-l records.) So, Cy ended with in 2nd place because of overall w-l record and then behind in total votes only to Thundar.

I wonder if people will pile on the votes for the underdog again...so far it doesn't seem that way.

I compared the weekly totals for all Cocky, The Bird, Testudo, and Buster. I was hoping to figure out who was consistently getting more votes, so that we could vote against them. Unfortunately, I can't tell. Both matchups are pretty damn even in that regard. I think we should wait a day or two to see what happens. Then we start voting for the underdog in the Bird/Cocky matchup, and the stronger candidate in the Buster/Testudo matchup. We want to take Thundar out in the semifinals so that we don't have to compete against them in the final.

Thundar, Buster, Testudo, and Cy all have finals beginning Dec. 15th, the day the voting ends. Cocky has finals Dec. 8-15. I couldn't find the schedule for The Bird. I have no idea if that makes a difference or not. And yes, I've spent way too much time thinking about this. Mrs. yCy

It wont affect us though, because our matchup will be the week before, unfortunately...hmmm.

I expect the next round to be the biggest challenge for both Cy and Thunder. Both will have a target on their back due to the bye status and will likely have not just one, but 3 fan bases trying to oust them. Best advise when we get there is to lay low and not attract too much attention. Stay competitive early on and then make a big push in the closing days.

Not likely to happen, but what if Iowa ended up going to the Capitol One Bowl, and ISU won the mascot challenge? That would be kind of funny to see Cy celebrated at an Iowa game.
