I'm not sure how congested it is but the Farm Progress Show is now located just east of Boone on HWY 30 and it is going on this week. I heard on the radio yesterday that there was some traffic congestion due to the show. I know it gets a lot of visitors and I would guess people will be leaving there about the same time people are trying to come to Ames so this is just to give people a heads-up about that.

Not to mention 35 is under contstruction right outside of Ames. Better make it early to tailgate everyone!

The third day of FPs is always the lightest traffic day. However, the show officially closes at 4 p.m., so traffic could be a bit heavier than usual. The lanes on Highway 30 are clearly marked, so stay in the appropriate lane for through traffic. That should help some. If not, there are always a "few" highway patrol officers around.
