I'm thinking this was an intentional misheard lyric from the Notre Dame student section singing "Living on a Prayer." "It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not," became "It doesn't make a difference if we're naked or not."

I like to imagine the "Desposito" song as an ode to legendary hockey play Phil Esposito.

Another recent--first time I heard Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" I thought he said, "body like a back hoe". I was left wondering why you would compare a female body to a large piece of construction equipment . . .

I thought it was this until I heard a show on Sirius radio talking about misheard lyrics to their songs.

I thought it was, "She's the kind of a girl who makes good use of the pill, you could say she was attractively built." In fact it is, "She's the kind of a girl who makes The News Of the World, you..."

Evidently The News Of the World was a UK tabloid with a second page photo feature of a young lovely showing her boobbiage.

As one might guess, I previously compiled a few of my misheard lyrics.

Misheard: Well I belong to a woman in a black dress.
Actual: She was a long cool woman in a black dress.
— “Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress),” The Hollies

Misheard: Be quiet, be nice and quiet, be nice and quiet.
Actual: Be quiet, big boys don’t cry, big boys don’t cry.
— “I’m Not in Love,” 10cc

Misheard: And I know I’m gonna still arrive.
Actual: And I know I’m gonna steal her eye.
—“Girl,” Beck

Misheard: What’s running through my mind comes through on my wall.
Actual: What's running through my mind comes through in my walk.
—“Pass the Mic,” Beastie Boys

Misheard: A girl with colitis goes by.
Actual: A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
—“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” The Beatles

Misheard: Hold him in your arms, yeah, you can feel his disease.
Actual: Hold him in your armchair you can feel his disease.
—“Come Together,” The Beatles

Misheard: Adolescent president
Actual: Adolescent resident.
—“Monkey Wrench,” Foo Fighters.

I also have an extensive set from "Bennie and the Jets," I'll post a sampler in a while.

When the GoGo's song "Our Lips are Sealed" was first being played on the radio I was sure they were saying, "Honest I See You." I even remember discussing the new song/group with a buddy and we both agreed we liked the GoGo's but we both liked different songs. Really, if you listen to it with those words in your head it DOES sound like that. Honest! LOL

What is great about this song is that Beck is purposely vague about the lyrics, especially the part where I think he's saying, "My sun-eyed girl."

The other one I had goes a long way back.

The Elvis Presley song, Suspicious Minds...

For years I thought he was singing:

"They call it a drought, I can't walk out." Which actually works AND rhymes. I really thought, 'that's dumb' when I learned it was actually, "We're caught in a trap, I can't walk out."

My lyrics are better 'cause they RHYME!
