I bought a 37-inch Olevia TV almost 15 years ago now (they went out of business in 2008, so it may have been even longer ago than that) for $699. This was at a time when TVs that size were going for twice the money. Thanks so much to @madguy30 for today’s topic:
“What are things we skimped on that have lasted or worked even better than big brands?”
For example, do you have a cheap pair of shoes or lawn clippers where cheap was best?
Give Costco a look for electronics like TV's, they double the warranty, great selection and are as cheap or cheaper than Best Buy and others.I bought a 37-inch Olevia TV almost 15 years ago now (they went out of business in 2008, so it may have been even longer ago than that) for $699. I did some research and relied heavily on a consumer guide rating of 37 inch TVs. The No. 1 brand in that size, according to them, was a Sony that was selling for $1,299. My Olevia was rated second in class, so it was a no brainer for me. It's still going strong all these years later. It's been my bedroom TV for the duration of that time.
Meanwhile, I've gone through two larger, more expensive TVs in the living room since then and I'm in the market for a third, but I just don't have the gumption or the desire to get one at this time. The last one I bought was a 55-inch Sony Smart TV that conked out in less than 2 years. The other one, also a 55-inch that I thought had also conked out, but it turned out to be a bad HDMI cable, is also still going strong, but at my daughter's house because I gave it to her after I bought the ill-fated smart TV. So when I watch TV nowadays, I go to my bedroom.
I bought some Kirkland Irish Whiskey and I actually don't like it compared to Jameson or Bushmills when drinking it on the rocks.Does Costco stuff count? I know that an awful lot of it is licensed from quality products. An example would be Kirkland Irish Whiskey. I think it is better than almost every other Irish Whiskey that I've had.
I don't have a Costco anywhere near me. In fact, I've never even seen a Costco in my travels.Give Costco a look for electronics like TV's, they double the warranty, great selection and are as cheap or cheaper than Best Buy and others.
A person who only loses a few balls not all of them.what is a "marginal" golfer?

If Kirkland is Soylent Green, I'm pro-cannibalism.I've decided Kirkland is Soylent Green style sneaky evil because their products tend to be really, really good.
