I've got some old TV's and miscellaneous electronics that I would like to throw out that won't fit in the garbage can. Anyone know where I can take these to get rid of them? I assume I'm going to have to shell out a little coin.

They don't work, that's why I'm looking to throw them out. I volunteered with Goodwill in HS and it drove us nuts when people brought in junk that didn't work.

Might try posting them on craigslist.com in the free section. It doesn't cost anything and I have always had good luck getting rid of stuff on there.

There is a place in urbandale that will break them down and recycle them. I don't remember their name but they are Hickman kind of behind Slumberland. they charge by the pound.

Polk county's got to have a solid waste transfer station somewhere doesn't it?

Glad to see someone making an effort rather than just driving out in the country and tossing their crap in the ditch.

I think there is a place in Bondurant where you can get rid of old paint. I don't know if they take anything like tvs.
I did find this online though. Could try some of the numbers and see if they allow other misc electronics.

If you have curbside trash pick up you can purchase large item tags for them and they will pick them up. If they fit in your trash you dont even need that. If you don't want it going to the landfil though I would check the place wx mentioned.
