Yes! Because every recruit outside the state wants to run out of the tunnel to cotton eyed joe
Who said anything about Cotton Eyed Joe..That would be more Nebraska style.

If you think that is Iowa music, you dont know Iowa.

Seems some forget Slipknot is from Iowa.

Lil Wayne's voice... is not for me. But you will hardly hear it because you will only hear the first 45 seconds give or take of the song and then everyone will be screaming. His voice is a non-factor. It's not about the song as a whole. It's about that beginning element. And I think it has the makings of something really cool when paired with a team walk out.
I would take the first 45 seconds to this before I would take the first 45 of Lil wayne.

Sirens can be blared over anything....and should be.

Edit: for those that think I am saying this should be the song, I am not. I said I would rather have the first 45 seconds because of the buildup than the first 45 secs of the lil wayne song. Just to point out it has a interesting buildup to the drop. But Not saying it is the best option, just and example of how it builds.

But I would rather listen to 45 secs of straight sirens than listen to that lil wayne song too.

I do agree with Chris from the podcast though that Iowa State should really lean into using the sirens to almost an obnoxious level. For that reason I have no issue with fireman since it uses sirens in it.
Agreed - and more of the national weather service alert sound. It's odd it only plays during the intro. Gets a roar when that sound comes through. Would like to hear that sound as an indicator that it's time to get loud on third down.

That takes way too long to get there and has vibes players will never jive with.

Dropping a big beat is all that matters. Nobody is air guitaring the riffs. It's about building anticipation and a timely drop. It's not rocket science, but marketing and fans seem to think so.

Can even the most music illiterate fans clap to it? Will it make students dance? Does it build drama and come to a crescendo?

Boom, you have a good entrance song.
But can you dance to rap? Unless it has a rock undertone, I dont see too many dancing to rap.

I wouldn't say it's a good song by any means, and it will sound like **** coming out of our broke ass sound system, but I'd prefer that to any of the nu metal that gets thrown around here. Nothing says small town Iowa boy (not saying this is you) like recommending Saliva for a D1 football intro.

Actually yes fix the sound system first.

High school stadiums have better sound.
Otherwise considering all the hoopla that goes on between the team entering and actual playing I'm not ever convinced the game or crowd is impacted by the music.

I would argue consistent offensive line play but carry on.

Special teams.

ISU would be the team with the best sound system and music but then give up an opening kick TD to get it quiet real quick.

I think that has a lot to do with the FCC limitations on usage of the tone.

"the FCC prohibits the use of actual or simulated EAS/WEA tones and attention signals outside of genuine alerts, tests, or authorized public service announcements, especially when they are used "to capture audience attention during advertisements; dramatic, entertainment, and educational programs" (even if the footage is documentation of an event where an actual alert was issued)"

Fireman is almost two decades old now. Current players were still in diapers when it came out.

Seems like a weird choice but whatever.

Not saying it is the right song either.

But places that play things like Enter Sandman, Thunderstruck, etc dont seem to have a problem with the players "jiving" with it.
