Another great quote by a recruit about our coaching staff.

“He (Messingham) is probably one of the coolest guys I have talked to when it comes to recruiting,” Rogers said. “The whole Iowa State staff is very straight forward. They speak the truth about everything.”

"Iowa State is currently the only school in America who has offered Rogers a scholarship at this point in time."

Are there some Canadian or European schools that have offered?

Are there grade issues with Rogers that have prevented others offering?

Kind of hard not to think he is simply waiting for an Iowa offer to come. I mean we are the only team in America to offer him and he's still wanting to wait until after the season? I hope the kid picks the good guys though...

I agree. I think that he is waiting on the iowa offer. Maybe they hand one to him after their camp, maybe they try to string him along through the season. Somehow, I doubt that ISU holds a spot for him if he doesn't jump on board early on though. If ISU is still his only BCS offer in October, I have a feeling that they'll have already filled his spot and he's going to end up at a MAC school. ISU was almost full by Thanksgiving last year and classes seem to fill up earlier and earlier everywhere around the country. ISU under CPR (and Chiz) have made it a priority to get as many official visits in for September and October games as they can. Only big time blue-chippers (and the fallbacks) are waiting until December to decide. I don't fault the kid for taking his time to look over the options to make a good choice, but there's some risk involved that his spot will be gone when he finally makes a decision.

BTW, the kid is in IC. How much more does iowa really need to see? I'm sure he was at their camp last year and they probably had coaches at every single one of his home games. When does it become obvious to him that they're stringing him along? If he doesn't have an offer after their camp, it SHOULD be obvious.

Thats completely off base. He's stated in interviews before that he plans to hold off on committing until after the season because he knows that college recruiters will come to IC to see him play and that will in turn give his teammates more visibility to recruiters. He also didn't spend his childhood in Iowa and holds no favorite in state team.

I've spoken to Charles' mentor family and he is far from focused about an Iowa offer. ISU stands a good chance with him. I get the feeling he is expecting more offers to come when it all settles. He is a huge Ohio State fan but I don't know if this has changed with the recent problems.

Charles has great football speed. He played corner against Cedar Falls and more than held his own against Harrington. Talks too much crap for my taste, though. Ref had to tell him to tune it down on one occasion.

People in town respect him and think he's a good young man. Would be a good catch for ISU.

On a side note. West receiver Dondre Alexander could become an interesting 2013 prospect. Great body and VG athlete. He may try basketball at the next level but his future would be in football.

Not waiting for an Iowa offer. He could very well end up at Iowa State. Hes just letting the process work. He likes Minnesota, Iowa State and Michigan State.

I was glad to see we aren't really recruiting him as a QB. I've seen him play a couple times, and he was by far the best "athlete" on the field, but I wouldn't call him a great QB at all. I don't think his passing skills will cut it.

At 6'2" tall and probably still growing though, I'm not sure what kind of CB he'd make either. Maybe safety would be better?
