I was out of the office last week so I didn't get to see the rollout. Anyone tried one out yet over lunch? Locations?

Are they up and running yet?
The last I heard was the City Council approved the pilot, but since they took so long and there was so much uncertainty, non of the vendors had gotten their paperwork sent in or their trucks ready to go.

There have been taco trucks on the streets of Des Moines for over ten years. But 20 taco trucks in working class neighborhoods don't fit the prerogative of the local "food mafia" who actually believe there was a ban on food trucks.

I've seen those a few times but I don't have an urge to walk 5 miles from work during lunch to hit them up.

Is there still one at the corner of MLK and University in the AutoZone parking lot?

That place was fantastic every time I stopped.

I always see that truck and wondered but the only time I'm over there is when I'm heading to Taco Mariana's, which is also excellent.

Hmm that article I posted is almost a year old. I can't find the recent article on their website but it was just like 2 weeks ago that they had an entire issue of write up about some of the new food trucks.

DMJuice has had some endless stream of updates on the same handful of food trucks. "Modern food trucks" as they refer to themselves. If I didn't know any better, I would think the food truck entrepreneurs were more concerned with getting into the paper than with actually setting up and serving lunch to people downtown.

Yeah I saw that one you're talking about and they listed the areas where they expected them to be but it sounds like we'll have to wait a bit longer for most of them.

Nollen Plaza used to have vendors out there for lunch. It would be nice to get them back once the new Cowles Commons opens up.
