sushi - gross. Cooking meet is what separates us from apes.

So does our spelling

:prohm:

cilantro - tastes like soap and it seems like people try to put it in everything
coconut - don't like the taste, or the consistency
ranch - is just ok. I don't understand the midwest love affair with ranch. Fries are better with ketchup and wings are way better with blue cheese. Rach is for dipping veggies, that's it.
cold pizza - gross

Agree on the Midwest ranch love affair. I kinda understand dipping the crappy school cafeteria pizza in ranch, but seeing grown ass adults do the same with good pizza is a bit much.

For dipping veggies, tzatziki sauce is a healthier dip I've found that tastes great.

I have Swedish ancestry, so I've had plenty of pickled herring.

Pickled herring on a Ritz cracker (Triscuit acceptable)....mmmm

Something our family *didn't* have that I'll rag on my fellow Nordic people for...lutefisk. Let's soak fish in oven cleaner for no reason until it's gelatinous and pungent, then think it's fit for consumption.

Agree on this. Just about vomit every time I see it on a plate.

How about cauliflower? My grandma would cook the hell out of it. Smelled so bad. To this day I have an aversion to anything cauliflower.

Whole fish with the skin/scales and head. Not only does it look disgusting, but it doesn't taste a whole lot better.

Fry or pan sear the filets with some seasoning, please.

Oatmeal raisin cookies are very tasty IMO.

Oatmeal cookies are great...I'm just not sure oatmeal raisin needs to be a thing when there is oatmeal chocolate chip and oatmeal butterscotch chip.

We probably had "oatmeal scotchies" as much as any cookie growing up, incredible.

I mean I'll eat oatmeal raisin too.

We have to be swiftly reaching a point where the raisins in cookies generation has passed on, right? I don't like putting the words "Grandma" and "disappointment" in the same sentence, but damnit Grandma.
Oatmeal raisin is the only cookie worth a damn.

I've heard about this. Haven't had it. Isn't it only made during a certain season?

As of a few years ago, I would have gone to my grave thinking cauliflower was one of the worst things that humans regularly consume, however I was out to dinner with some co-workers and someone ordered something called "crispy chili cauliflower" which is flash fried cauliflower tossed in chili sauce, with scallions and sesame seeds. I tried it out of politeness, and I have to admit that it was fantastic.

I was in Reykjavik Iceland about 20 years ago, and there was a restaurant that had a salad bar with 4 different bowls of herring... all of it was amazing. They had pickled, sweet dijon mustard, BBQ, and some kind of a wine sauce. In Iceland, herring is a regular food source (like cows in Iowa), so it's very commonly eaten there.

My point being, Herring is pretty good depending on how you prepare it. In America, we usually only get the pickled version. I'm assuming most people will like Pickled Beets that already like Herring.

Steamed cauliflower with a warm cheese sauce is terrific.
