This idiot tax has been necessary for quite a while. Some of the ones in the video didn't even put the first one over the grey box. What the **** do you think it's there for?

The average human is dumb.....this is just more proof!

I don't pull the old one off, but when they get thick enough there's usually a separation in the pile somewhere that's already showing slight signs of peeling. In the years when I see that I'll pull off a few of the top ones before sticking the new one on.

People complaining about having to have stickers need to be informed of how it was in the past.

(Tell us more stories about the good old days, Grandpa!) Okay, I will...

Everybody had to get 2 new plates every year. And ALL between the first of January and the first of February (they didn't stagger renewals out through the year based on birth month). So instead of just wiping off a 1" X 1 1/2" sticker on your plate before sticking the new one on, you were out there in January crawling under your bumpers in the mud, ice, and snow to get at the screws and nuts holding your plates on (real metal, not the easy, no-rust nylon things we have now). And no doing it by mail. You had to get your butt to the county courthouse. So every Saturday morning in January there was a line outside the courthouse of working people (who couldn't make it during weekday working hours) getting their new plates. And the last day of January? Forget about it, huge line of procrastinators. And every year the local television station would do a report on the last day rush (kinda like they do now on Apr 15).

But yeah, I hate the stickers everywhere people, too. Usually the same people who have the, "If you ain't a hawkeye you ain't [excrement]" bumper stickers.

And do Iowa pickup trucks still say they're from "TRUCK" county like they used to?

Also, legislating common sense is difficult, but some people are so inept. Just last week a pulled up beside a car in a parking lot and a 20-ish year old girl was standing beside her car crying. I asked her if she was ok and she proceeded to tell me that she was locked out of her car. Her car keys were in her hand. She held up the key-fob and pushed the unlock button over and over without it unlocking. I asked her if I could see her keys so that I could help, and she handed them to me. I took the key and stuck it into the door lock and unlocked the car. Her eyes widened like I was a magician. I don't know what we're teaching our kids in school, but I'm very scared.

Hot??
