EWL Folding in to the MAC next year

The MAC is taking in the EWL starting next season. The Big 12 took in the WWC a few years back and at this point you have to think there is a lot of pressure on the ACC to take in the SoCon Schools and then you just have the Pac-12 as the odd man out as far as being a tiny conference on its own.

We're only a couple of steps away from 5 superconferences in wrestling. The hangups will be mostly branding/nomenclature, IMO.

EIWA = 16 teams
MAC/EWL = 15 (Long Island seems logical to make it 16)
Big Ten = 14
ACC + SoCon = 13
Big 12 + Pac-12 + Augustana = 18

I thought there had been talks with Pac 12 in the past. I can't believe NCAA will let them keep going with 5 schools for very long.

ACC & SoCon merger makes sense also.

Yeah, I know that not being able to agree on what to call it was a barrier for a Big 12 + ACC merger for wrestling a while back. Obviously the SoCon wouldn't have that problem because they'd love to have "ACC" on their singlets for recruiting but I doubt the Pac-12 would want to give up their name and the Big 12 wouldn't want to change their name either.

I'd love to see the Big 10 stuck with some random school like Long Island though, just for the lols when they get super indignant about having to schedule away duals against them.
