He seems like a genuinely nice human, but he's 15-20 years past his prime... Just move to Florida and retire.. Constant errors all non-con. The play by play guy is really sharp and has to constantly save the broadcast.

Serious question, do they volunteer or pay minimum wage? Because there is no way that is the best we can get...

ESPN announcers don’t get paid nearly what people think they get paid. The only people espn pays a lot of
Money to are the guys with their own shows. Aka the guys who are loudmouths

Yeah...Larry Morgan was especially brutal today. Hopefully he won't get any of our Big 12 games that are on +. I'm to the point of needing to mute him.

I know one of them is Larry Morgan. I think he does PxP. Used to cover Iowa games for TV, then drake for several years before getting this gig. He was also one of the hosts of Lou and Larry on KGGO in the 80s.

Agreed. Both are past their prime. I couldn't watch and had to listen on the radio today. I miss being able to easily sync up John and Eric with TV.

Syncing up can be done with ESPN+ on the TV and the Varsity app on phone/bluetooth speaker. I typically do ESPN+ on the TV via Google TV, and then bluetooth my phone running the free Walters/Heft broadcast on the Varsity app to the soundbar.

Agree with all this, they’re brutal to listen to. Could you imagine them calling KU vs. ISU = lol

I don't have a degree in electrical engineering. Can I pay you to come to my house and do all that configuration for me? I would LOVE to have John and Eric do the announcing while I watch the game.

I may be wrong but I’m fairly confident ESPN+ has the schools find the people calling the game or they just don’t have it called at all.

With Walters being the face of Cyclones.tv, I would guess he may be the connection of getting Morgan to call these games. And I’d guess Morgan does it just about for free.

I mean, ****, the sideline reporters are underclassmen just trying to complete a homework assignment

Just for the non-conference ESPN+ games.
Correct. Once league play starts the league provides talent.

Non-con broadcasts are produced by locals and students.

Larry Morgan is genuinely one of the nicest humans on the planet but when you never had a fastball and you're in your 70s, it's a tough listen. He and Emmenecker doing Drake games is just flat brutal.

At least they switched up the "sideline reporter" a few games ago. The one that started the year was terrible. Pulling a random fan out of the stands could have provided more insight.

Meh, I'm just happy to be able to watch them and that they aren't on Peacock. Even some of the "best" announcers can be annoying to many: Dickie V, Gus Johnson, Rafferty (who I love).

Nothing against Larry, but he was doing iowa games in the 80s. I'm 53 now and he's still going at it. Good for him, but hoping we get a step up from the announcers in Big XII play when on the +.
We'll get the guy that played at Baylor who is just as bad.
