So my quick scan of the last few pages, I’ve come to the conclusion that Fox and ESPN are dropping college football in order to cover the L.A. beach scene on Saturdays. Is that correct?

You misread it. All beaches are exactly the same. Ann Arbor and Detroit offer the exact same activities as So Cal. People with hundreds of rounds of ammo and shrimp not going to games impacts attendance.

At some point "the beach" must've hurt this person or someone they love

No other reason to type so many words about a place they've never been
Nope, I just dont think Los Angeles is the heaven on earth, like some of you do. I also don't think a city of millions of people is where everyone wants to live. Some do, some don't, god forbid someone doesnt think like you.

Finally, I think people find things to do wherever they live. You said you had fun in the desert once. Good for you. Its all relative. But some of you just think only a place like LA offers so much to do that people are just overwhelmed with options, that CFB is the last on their minds. Which I said then those places probably should not be the top choices for conferences and media people.

But you all act like I am the stubborn one, when I have 15 people coming at me for daring to say the Mecca of Cali is not the absolute greatest place ever imagined. But then again I am sure you cant say what you really want to say for fear of getting this caved.

Anyway, enjoy your day, I will at the Jack.

More words for a place you've never been.

Impressive.

Nothing. You are right. Muscatine Iowa is EXACTLY the same as San Diego.

Check and mate. You win. All of us who have lived in Southern California are obviously wrong from our firsthand experience.

It seems to me that, in addition to the many entertainment options here in LA, one significant factor in college football’s popularity is the hectic lifestyle. One is less likely to trek up to the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum for a game when your everyday errands (which take twice as long with traffic) swallow up your Saturday.

Watched much of the TCU at Colorado game last night. Are we sure we want PAC teams? Look what they've done to the Buffalo football team!

I think speedy's issue may be more the state of California than the beach. Just ask him about his thoughts on adding San Diego State University to the Big 12 and then very quickly step back.

Can we please make a new thread for all of this "debate" about beaches/California/lifestyles/attendence excuses and get this thread back on topic?

I have nothing new to add to the original topic, but it's of great interest to me. I know I saw somewhere that discussions with FOX were supposed to start after Labor Day. I'm guessing we won't hear anything for a while and I do understand no news can lead to threads like this getting detailed, but I'm hoping for some more on-topic conversation.

I don't know why Colorado wants to stay in the Pac. Their programs have fallen off a cliff.

Good question whether they add value to us. But if they do, I don't understand why they'd choose to stay put.

Hmmm. I lived in L.A. in my 20's to early 30's and S.F. until mid 40's. That said, I loved living at the beach. Wouldn't have had it any other way. And. S.F. was also a blast, but a different phase of life. Then, I got married. DOH! (sarcasm)
