Not sure I trust an index that has TTech ahead of us...and again ranks Texas in the top 20. This will adjust quickly once games begin.

***Great job Iowa...you play 1 of the 4 top teams in the East Division (Penn State) and feast on the low lifes...again.

Gut feeling but I think Texas will be pretty good in 2018, and I agree that Texas Tech will probably be worse than 2017.

Looks like we are 71st in their rankings. Interestingly Memphis is in the top 10. Can imagine they see last year as a fluke/blip on radar. Our team has to continue to prove itself to get the respect.

When you click on ISU you can see the % chance of beating each opponent. Only 31% to beat Iowa, 35% to beat what they are picking to be a 6-5 TCU team and essentially no chance at OU, OSU, or Texas.

71st by record. Click on the power index on the right.

But with that being said, these numbers are a joke. Us, WV, and KSU will all do significantly better than what they're saying.

I just checked UI's schedule. My goodness it's weak. Don't have to play U-M, MSU or Ohio State. Two games vs. top 10 based on ESPN projection, the rest is .... yeesh. And I'm including ISU in that, if the rankings are to be trusted. Third-highest opponent on the list: Northern Illinois.

I hate Texas but they will be dominant this year, which I hate, but is good for the XII.

SOS of Iowa and Iowa State, using those ESPN rankings (with assumption it’s largely accurate, at least for April), and projected win total (rounded to nearest whole number in each case.)

I didn’t get time to average the rankings on each schedule or sort each schedule by ranking, someone else can do it if you wish. :)

Iowa (#26; SOS 44) 8-4
56 NIU
71 Iowa State
* UNI
11 Wisconsin
85 at Minnesota
106 at Indiana
102 Maryland
9 at Penn State
87 at Purdue
70 Northwestern
104 at Illinois
86 Nebraska
* FCS-no rank

Iowa State (#71; SOS 20) 6-6
* South Dakota State
26 at Iowa
5 Oklahoma
94 Akron
62 TCU
21 at Oklahoma State
69 West Virginia
73 Texas Tech
124 at Kansas
64 Baylor
18 at Texas
77 Kansas State
* FCS-no rank

ISU is not ranked at 71. That is the ranking of the predicted finished record. For team rankings, ISU is #41 and Iowa is #25. Throwing out the highest ranked opponent (probable loss) and lowest ranked opponent (probable win), the remaining somewhat tossup games games: ISU "average" opponent is ranked 37, Iowa "average" opponent is ranked 48 which leads to 6-6 and 8-4 predictions.

Ah, I misread the table. Thanks for clarifying.

Memphis is highly favored in every 2018 game. Only loss is expected to be against Missouri. (The dregs of the SEC.) Wouldn't ya love to play their schedule? Go to a bowl game ever year.

Yeah, but it would mean playing in a conference like their conference, which means we'd be playing in a conference that makes next to no money.

I'd rather have Iowa's schedule.

KSU lower than Tech. I'll believe that when I see it.

LOL: Nebraskie at #86. From juggernaut to jugger-not. :)

I bet it just kills ESPN to not be able to rank Nebbie really high.

6.3 wins for ISU. I'm hoping for 6 or 7 wins so I guess that's fine.

Be careful of what you wish for.
