I've shaved with a razor for a long time, but I'm thinking about switching to an electric shaver. What kind should I get?

I use a Braun Pulsonic. It's the best electric razor I've found but still not as good as a blade. I have a heavy beard and use the electric almost every day. It does seem to take a longer time to shave with the Pulsonic than other electrics I've used --- but it gets closer.

I don't know what kind you should get, but I got a
Panasonic ES8243A Men's 4-Blade (Arc 4) Wet/Dry Rechargeable Electric Shaver with Nanotech Blades

from Amazon.com. Switched from a razor about a year ago and I love the electric. I wouldn't go back to a razor now. The electric gets a very close shave, is faster than using a razor, and is a lot less messy.

Self control is right. I love this site and look at it daily. I thoroughly enjoy most of the banter.

I use a Braun. Not sure of the model number however. I'm happy with it, but really haven't used anything else to compare either.

Love my Panasonic. Harder to find but worth it. Be sure to grab the style with the triple blades. The blade in the middle is good for the longer hairs that tend to be missed by the finer blades. You should give a rotary a test though. My dad lives by them but I find they tend to yank the hairs in my neck out rather than cut them. I don't hear him swearing at his so he must not have that problem.

This thread makes my neckbeard and face hurt. I tried electric once and never again. If you want a different (and infinitely better) shaving experience go for the safety razor and shave brush.

1st I use BOTH an Electric and a Blade Razor. I use a Norelco model 8251, its the best and closest shave I have ever gotten with an electric shaver.

I shave 1st with the Electric Shaver and then I lather up and shave with a blade razor, I usually use a gillette mach 3, I like the mach3 and the sensor a lot better than those 4 & 5 blade razors.

Close and Comfortable just the way I like it.

Go Cyclones..

Wow, man! You really work at it! I'm usually too lazy to go through all of that. However, with my Panasonic I can get just as close a shave as a razor if I take my time and go back over it numerous times and stretch my skin out when I do. I think different beard patterns, type of hair, amount of hair, etc. has a lot to do with how well electric shavers or razors work.
