Dishwasher Buying Advice/Question

So my dishwasher started leaking this weekend and my wife and I decided that it’s time to get a new one. The dishwasher we have came with the house we bought a little over a year ago. But its performance has been subpar as far as cleaning dishes and more frustratingly drying them.

From my research, it looks like there are two general ways to dry, the standard heated coil and a condensation/steam drying method. My question is for those with newer dishwashers, what’s your experience been with different methods of drying?

Also, any features you like, or wished you had? We’re going to get a one with three racks, with the middle rack being adjustable (LG seems to have a really nice adjustable rack).

Have a 3 layer Bosch. Bees knees.
Pretty much hit the auto button every time.

I have a Bosch 800 which has the condensation/steam drying method with what they call Zeolite (they describe it as minerals that absorb the moisture, which sounds stupid but who knows?). The lower level Bosches (500 and maybe 300 series) don't have that and open the door at the end of the cycle to help things dry.

I've never had any dishes that didn't dry unless I did the 1 hour wash.

I will say that no home purchase has brought me more joy than this dishwasher. Part of that is that I had a complete piece of **** dishwasher for a long time, but every day that thing makes me happy. It was a pain to install in my 1980's house, but well worth it.

I’ve seen a lot of people here say to get a Bosch. The thing is that I don’t want to spend the money on a Bosch until we do a kitchen renovation in 7-10 years. So I’m kinda looking for something that’s going to be pretty good until then.

Honestly, the cheap Bosch's aren't that expensive and would probably be better than another cheap one. 7-10 years is a long time.

We have a whirlpool. Quiet compared to our old ones. Stainless tub is big. Plastic tub means a cheaper one and it won’t last as long

Is your kitchen kinda open to the living room?
Because my Bosch is super quiet.
It shoots a red laser onto the floor to let you know it's running......its that quiet.

No, we have a more walled off house compared to newer modern ones.

How many DBs is yours. The ones my wife and I are looking at are around 45.

Get the Bosch, put one in at our old house and loved it. Have a newer 3 rack LG currently and wish we could have found a Bosch at the time.

I have a Bosch and it's ok. The air dry feature worked for a week, didn't work for about 6 months, and it's now working again. It's nearly silent on some programs but I don't remember our 12 year old whirlpool being loud. I like that the top rack is for utensils. I got a decent deal on it, so I'd probably buy it again at the same price.

Us too now. We’re replacing with Frigidaire. I didn’t do much research. Just getting matching brands and limited by fridge size
